About the role

With a strong pipeline of flooding work in a range of sectors, the Jacobs business is seeking a Senior Flooding Engineer or Hydrologist.

Our Water Resources business provides services across a range of markets including transport, dams, water resources development, water for the environment, mining, oil and gas, and the public.

Based in Queensland and reporting to the Water Resources Section Leader, you will have the opportunity to act as Flooding Lead for a range of multi-disciplinary assessments and designs, and manage smaller flooding and water resources projects.

You will prepare reports, letters, technical notes and presentations to effectively communicate technical information to a range of audiences in a concise and professional manner. You will assist in liaison with clients, stakeholders and regulators.

You will assist in the mentoring and training of the team by sharing your knowledge through on-the-job assistance, lessons-learnt, and tips and tricks.

Key to success in this role will be proven flooding experience as well as strong organisational and communication skills.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

About You

  • Demonstrate a passion for flooding and water resources management
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications i.e. Civil or Environmental Engineering, Water Resource Management, Environmental Science/Hydrology
  • At least 5 years’ experience in hydrologic, hydraulic or water resources modelling
  • If you are an engineer, you will ideally be a CPEng and RPEQ or very close to achieving this
  • Software experience should include TUFLOW, MIKEFLOOD, URBS, RORB, RAFTS, QGIS, ArcGIS, 12D
  • Programming/scripting experience in python, R, VBA or Fortran is highly valued
  • Take responsibility for self-checking and review of calculations and models
  • Be a strong communicator, with proficient report writing skills
  • Take responsibility for project and task management including delivery to meet timelines, budget and quality expectations
  • Be able and willing to guide and mentor team members via on-the-job assistance, and sharing of lessons-learnt, and tips and tricks.
  • Have an inclusive mindset and enjoy collaborating across geographies as part of diverse teams
  • Be open-minded and willing to adapt with change and transformation

About the team 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established thriving business with a strong pipeline of projects. The current opportunities are predominantly based in Perth and Brisbane however, you will be joining a truly connected ANZ Water Solutions business who provide the full suite of consulting services from advisory and engineering through to operations and asset management. 

The Jacobs water business has water infrastructure and water resources capability in every major city around Australia working across a multitude of markets such as Utilities, Government, Transport, Resources, and Energy Transitioning to name a few.  

Our team is currently working on projects that have a lasting enduring positive impact on our communities such as advisory services for new water sources for agriculture, flood modelling and engineering services to enable greater connectivity, innovative space saving wastewater sludge treatment projects, and major desalination plants in response to our drying climate.
