Senior Manager - Engineering

Okta is seeking a seasoned and tenacious hands-on engineering manager to lead our insights team that is fundamentally expanding the possibilities of functional visual programming. We are the team that builds and runs the Okta Workflows product that our customers, including some of the world’s largest organizations use to quickly and with no-code build complex, secure and scalable workflows that enable identity centric scenarios across many SaaS applications. The insights team that you will manage builds critical components used both during design and runtime that lets our customers manage, test & debug, monitor and derive insights from workflows in near-real time and at terabyte scale.

This role is responsible for front-line management, team growth and supporting the team in all Okta processes needed to run an efficient organization. As a rapidly growing team in a fast growth company, this role will be responsible for working with leadership to realize the vision, help inform strategy and communicate across the organization to set and execute plans. To be successful you would need to bring innovation to everyday problems, lead the team to beat our objectives, engage in future-scale thinking, constantly improve our processes to increase our efficiency and continuously invest in our people to ensure their personal and professional growth. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead, manage and recruit a high-performing team of software engineers
• Mentor and grow the team to develop and excel in their areas of expertise.
• Regularly measure, assess, address and eliminate risks associated with deliverables
• Drive cross-functional and cross-departmental product architecture reviews and discussions
• Establish strong relationships across engineering and field teams
• Set clear expectations and foster a positive environment that rewards hard-work
• Handle customer escalations indirectly (through Support) or directly when deemed necessary
• Work collaboratively with Product Management, QA, Documentation, Operations and Support
• Shared responsibility for the live site and quarter-back live site incidents
• Provide engineering site leadership and be ready to assist in DR/BC processes

Minimum REQUIRED Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• 8+ years of hands-on management with experience in data processing and visualization at scale
• Managed a team of 10+ engineers at a software company
• Live-Site application product experience
• Experience with big data, stream processing and analytics
• Experience leading full-stack teams for a multi-tenant SaaS product
• Solid grasp of modern software engineering principles and practices
• Demonstrable experience in API development and API-first approach
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teams, peers and management
• Ability to see the “big picture” as well as a proven record in tactical execution
• Experience working with modern frameworks and languages (e.g. React, nodeJS, Rust)

Education and Training:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field
