Purpose of Job

This role will support Scotiabank in maintaining its Risk Data Aggregation and Risk Reporting (RDARR) compliance by assisting with the development and management of an ongoing compliance program and conduct independent oversight and validation. This role will also support the development of an ongoing governance program for a larger scope of risk reporting within Global Risk Management.

Major Accountabilities

This is a position requiring strong leadership, and management oversight in the area of Risk Data Governance and Management. The candidate should have proven knowledge of Risk management, Risk data aggregation, Risk Data reporting, Data governance and management disciplines, Data quality processes/controls and policies, with an emphasis on Risk standards and regulations, such as BCBS 239 RDARR Principles. The objectives of the RDARR program include the enhancement of the following capabilities and practices:

1. Risk Governance and Infrastructure
2. Data Aggregation (i.e. data quality)
3. 3Risk Reporting (i.e. reporting accuracy)

This role will require the individual to be adept at identifying, assessing and managing risks inherent in these practices. The incumbent will need to develop, implement and maintain standards and procedures that will ensure ongoing compliance with evolving regulatory guidelines.

• The incumbent will support the establishment of the program for ongoing compliance with the BCBS 239 RDARR principles. This includes, among other things, updating and maintaining the RDARR Compliance Assessment Tool (CAT), RDARR standards and procedures, and RDARR documentation repositories (e.g. Sharepoint, Scotiabank Live).
• He/she will support advancing RDARR principles throughout GRM to sustain, enhance and evolve established RDARR capabilities. This includes the integration of RDARR concepts into broader GRM risk reporting and enhancements to the related governance framework.
• In alignment with OSFI expectations, the incumbent will manage the independent RDARR validation activities (a.k.a. Second Line of Defence). This includes, among other things, the establishment of a Second Line framework and standards that align with the RDARR ongoing compliance program.
• He/she will manage the annual self-assessment process. This includes, among other things, ensuring all assessments are updated accordingly, self-assessment analysis, and consolidation of the assessment for reporting to the Bank’s executives and OSFI.
• The Senior Manager will support the Director in the collaboration with GRM stakeholders to provide effective reporting to Bank executives and the Board. This includes, among other things, the timely and accurate escalation of material risk data aggregation and risk reporting issues.
• The Senior Manager will support communications with industry groups (e.g. CBA, IIF) and regulatory bodies (OSFI).
• Achieve a high level of internal customer satisfaction in an environment which fosters communication and collaboration - leading to delivery of strong results on a consistent basis.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Work Experience

• Knowledge of Scotiabank, working knowledge of BCBS 239, risk data and reporting, or regulatory program execution.
• 5+ years’ experience in Risk Management, Data management or Audit experience, preferably in financial institution.
• Very good verbal and written communication skills, experience with MS Office.
• Very good analytical skills, conceptual thinking and systematic problem solving.
• Able to troubleshoot and deal with ambiguity.
• Proactive, creative and results focused.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong team player.
