Senior Manager Development
This role will be within the Scotiabank Canadian Banking Technology (CBT) team, working with Revolving Credit, Data and Transactions teams. This role provides core document composition capabilities, supports CBT Modernization Strategy, Governance, Architecture, Design and Development. Successful candidate will be partnering with multiple internal and 3 rd party technology teams in delivering critical customer documentation such as statement, letter as well as digitization of documents.
Responsibilities for the role:
Works closely with Delivery and Engineering teams, Product Owners and technical platform teams to deliver and develop high quality solutions supporting business process improvements that support business and technical strategies.
End-to-end software development and delivery of complex distributed cloud based system.
Work with various development team based in different locations on system development and systems integration. This should also extend to managing & guidance to support Engineers delivering and supporting code.
Building, modernizing and enhancing the infrastructure required to support the platforms in terms of robustness, scalability, availability and efficiency
Ability to deliver software that can scale across multiple data centers and cloud vendors while staying resilient.
Understanding Agile methodology at every stage of development.
Overseeing various testing activities including unit, mutation, use-case, performance, availability (failure injection) and consistency testing
Ability to communicate with precision while being concise.
Experience in delivering solutions using ScotiaBank methodologies, toolsets and practices
Ability to forecast resources, plan delivery activities, budgets and managing business expectations.
Aligning delivered solutions to strategic technical and capability roadmaps and identifying new shared capabilities and business opportunities.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field (or equivalent work experience)
10+ years of experience in IT, with an emphasis on development and delivery, and proven ability in application and APIs deployment using multitude methodologies.
Practical experience in delivery following technologies and platforms
Open Text Exstream software
Core banking systems
Java, DataPower, Apigee, SOA Appliances , etc…
Java/Node JS Applications and Components (Java Spring Boot, rxJava, Reactor, Guice, etc…)
Cloud Solutions using Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, AWS etc.
Testing engineering techniques
Good knowledge of Domain Driven Design
Managing teams using build, automated integration and deployment
Experience in delivering applications using TDD, CI/CD, Code Analysis and Coverage tools to support automated testing and monitoring (AppDynamics, SonarCube, Zipkin, Jaeger, etc…)
Implementing applications and APIs adhering to secure development practices
Delivering Applications in cloud infrastructure, Azure, GCP using PCF
Experience in delivery Mainframe solutions and Data integration is an Asset
High level understanding of IMS, CICS and DB2 subsystems
The successful candidate will have -
Hands on delivery experience of customer facing documents such as statement and letter
Strong people leadership skills
Strong communication skills and experience in working with diverse multiplatform teams
Ability to interact with and influence colleagues and business partners at all seniority levels
Experience in delivery solutions in broad range of Enterprise technology domains and technology implementations
Experience and good understanding of Agile methodology.
Knowledge and understanding of systems design and integration principles with a detailed understanding of applicable delivery methodologies.
Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills
Ability to deliver solutions using existing and emerging technologies / architectures to deliver innovative solutions
Strong analytical skills - problem identification and resolution
