We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join us on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract with a possible extension to join our Engineering team based in Perth.

Current projects include copper, gold and lithium plant design, construction, commissioning and optimisation. The successful candidate will have the right client and team focus, as well as a commitment to and enthusiasm for continuous improvement.

About the role

  • Contribute to the delivery of multi-disciplinary engineering designs and feasibility studies.

  • Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues.

  • Use available design tools for efficient execution of project deliverables.

  • Comply with relevant business management system policies and procedures.

  • Ensure engineering discipline design is consistent with the scope and objectives.

  • Lead and guide design teams for designated project or project area.

  • Deliver best practice technical solutions and superior quality design deliverables in accordance with project scope, timeframes, standards and project objectives.

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the engineering group to deliver best practice technical solutions and implementation by applying knowledge of industry developments and from experience.

  • Maintain regular, appropriate and concise communication.

  • Assist with the preparation of proposals and tenders (such as estimating design hours).

  • Develop networks and relationships within teams, across the organisation and with clients.

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 8+ years experience in engineering design or consulting experience, primarily within the mining and mineral processing industry, particularly copper and gold plants. Strong experience in EPC/EPCM projects and site experience desirable.

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams including other engineering disciplines, procurement and design teams.

  • Experience developing and optimising plant layouts and designs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Design experience using HELIX, Rocky, Autopipe, PSFF, Hammer etc. highly regarded.

  • Sound understanding of current codes and standards including Australian and ASME.

  • Chartered Engineer or willing to work towards accreditation.

  • Willingness to travel highly desirable.
