Versent is a rapidly growing Cloud Consulting organisation, specialising in AWS. We have offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Singapore and have grown to nearly 300 people in just four years! As a Senior Microservices Engineer, you will work within a team of like-minded specialists leveraging great technologies to build customer facing solutions.

With a focus on developing microservices and breaking apart monoliths, our Senior Microservices Engineers help deliver clean, modular and repeatable code that integrates with continuous improvement process.

They are familiar with how their teams code gets to production and the controls/gates the put in place to ensure they have successful releases and can adapt quickly to the changing needs of their customers.

They are constantly working towards improving process and coding practices along with ensuring that disciple in code is maintained and improved upon iteratively.

We are looking for at least 3 more talented engineers ASAP, so happy if you refer a friend (we pay decent referrals too) and will need more, so please do touch base.


  • Our Senior Microservices Engineers exhibit the following behaviours;

    • Has the ability to mentor other team members
    • Can step in and run design sessions or agile rituals
    • Understanding of API concepts – naming, versioning, rate control, developer portals, REST, Event based APIs, Caching, Analytics, API testing, authentication, authorisation

    People wanting to become Senior Microservices Engineer at Versent have the following skills;

    • Background and experience in more then one modern programming language (Java, NodeJS, GoLang, etc...)
    • Understanding what getting a card to done done looks like (documentation, testing, continuous improvement of process)
    • Has experience with the AWS ecosystem (S3, DynamoDB/RDS, etc...)
    • Understands and follows consistent code styling guidelines (linting or similar)
    • Understand, can articulate patterns and understand when to best implement specific patterns
    • Can demonstrate what discipline looks like in microservices codebases
    • Intermediate to Advanced Understanding of Git
    • Intermediate to Advanced understanding of the Agile Process
