Job Title:          Senior Network Engineer, OT

Location:          Cork, Ireland

Contract Type: Full Time, 12 months Fixed Term Contract.

Current Need

McKesson is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to help implement and deploy new security program within the Global Information Security and Risk Management function (ISRM). The Network Engineer will work within the Operational Technology Team with a prime focus on network and network security design activities at McKesson’s distribution centers within a specific business unit and/or geographical region and expanding outwards to various other solutions and services within the McKesson portfolio. The Senior Network Engineer will report to the Director, OT Security

Flexibility regarding travel estimated to be <30% international

Position Description:

The Senior Network Engineer, OT Security, is responsible to help implement, design and hardening guidelines for Network, infrastructure within the Operational Technology (OT) network. (S)he will support projects, assess the effectiveness of the security of the network, infrastructure and OT/ICS environments, and will, together with involved stakeholders, and the Director OT Security, implement and manage a solution strategy for detected security problems upon this scope. Focus will be on protection and security of the following:

  • Network devices such as (not limited to): routers, switches, firewalls, DHCP and DNS
  • Distribution Centers (e.g. network access, network, and DC segmentation)
  • The Industrial Control systems and the applicable infrastructure
  • Support and conduct audits upon the above scope
  • Work across business units and geographical boundaries to engage team members as required


  • Network implementation/design with the following vendors: Cisco, Palo Alto, HP, Aruba, Meraki
  • Creation of network asset documentation, diagrams, and other forms of network documentation.
  • Configuration and troubleshooting via CLI in production environments.
  • Project support, assist the Director OT Security in assessing the effectiveness of the security of the network, infrastructure, and OT environments.
  • Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery processes.

Minimum Requirements:

6+ years network infrastructure experience required.

Critical Skills:

  • Implementation/Design experience with the following vendors: Cisco, Palo Alto, HP, Aruba, Meraki
  • Previous experience in designing and implementing systems with a focus on scalability, high-availability and security.
  • Experience with configuring and troubleshooting via CLI in production environments
  • Experience working in a large global enterprise with focus on risk averse change management
  • Proven ability to deliver projects & strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and asset management tools.
  • In-depth core networking fundamental skills are critical for this role to troubleshoot routing, switching, and wireless infrastructures
  • Design-level understanding of SPAN, VRRP, HSRP, LACP, STP (PVSTP, PVSTP+), MSTP, EIGRP, BGP, Static Routing.
  • Experience working in a large global enterprise with focus on risk averse change management
  • Proven ability to effectively lead multiple technical projects on-time and within budget.
  • Strong ability to influence and negotiate, as well as to effectively prioritize and execute despite competing priorities and uncertainty.
  • A goal-driven and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to exercise good professional judgment.
  • Strong desire to learn and advance in Operational Technology and Information Security.

Additional Knowledge & Skills:

  • Fluent in written and verbal English language, including well-developed technical communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Distribution Centre and Warehouse Operational Technology, network, and network security infrastructure.
  • Familiar with compliance regulations, IT, security frameworks, and standards (i.e. NIST 800, ISO/IEC 27002, IEC 62443, HIPAA, PCI, SOX, HITRUST).
  • Ability to produce and present technical information on network technology platform solutions and trends.
  • Project management/ co-ordinator experience.
  • Firm understanding of Wireless technologies, channels, SNR.
  • Cisco Data Center Network (Nexus Devices)

4-year degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.


CCDP, CCDE, CCNP, PCCSA, PCNSA, PCNSE, CISA, CISSP, or other relevant professional designations preferred.
