Railsbank is in growth mode with hundreds of clients globally, over 5.5 million end user accounts, VC funding from top firms like Clocktower Ventures and Visa and the most globally-enabled, digitally-native product in the FinTech platform space.  We recently announced our US launch with our new Credit Card as a Service offering, aimed at allowing any company to build futuristic credit cards and lending products that live inside their user experiences.  

Since starting in 2016 in London, Railsbank is now the only platform capable of issuing multiple financial products on 4 continents including USA, Europe, SE Asia, and Australia.  Fresh off the back of a new $70M VC raise, we are looking for exceptional people who share the same core values to join team Railsbank in APAC.

The Role

The Senior Product Manager will be responsible for managing the overall product roadmap across the region. The person will build innovative products that delight our customers and will lead cross-functional teams to manage products end-to-end in a collaborative effort between engineering, design, customer and operations teams. 

 Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding insights, user goals and business requirements from customers and prospects that shapes product offerings 
  • Building a deep understanding from customers’ needs, defining our competitive positioning and keeping on top of broader industry developments
  • Manage the definition and development of the vision and roadmap for banking API products for the SE Asia region
  • Drive many aspects of the product development strategy to focus on solutions for problems that will delight Railsbank customers
  • Interacting with other internal team members and stakeholders (sales, partnerships, operations etc) as well as customers to gather input and information, communicate progress and execute of product release
  • Getting your hands dirty to understand our products in-and-out as the in-house functional expert and leader in region

You will have experience with Enterprise Saas Product Management, preferably with a background in Fintech (payments/cards) is essential as the team will rely on your ability to assess product feasibility and delivery timelines. Previous involvement with Go To Market product delivery projects is highly useful as well.

By evangelising Railsbank and open banking opportunities, you will be the voice of our product and ambassador of our brand, delivering expertise, education, and guidance to new and existing customers. Whilst the main focus will be products, you will also be involved in customer solutioning from time to time. 

We are looking for you to:

  • Work with cross functional teams (Sales / Growth / Risk & Compliance / Global Product and Engineering) to understand AP market requirements and plan product roadmap and strategy 
  • Ability to connect the dots via gap analysis - ensuring that product to be delivered is both technical and commercially viable
  • Prior experience and technical depth to translate customers’ business needs to a engineering squad to build capabilities
  • Someone who understands the intricacies of product management while also having extensive knowledge about APIs and how software products work. Deep understanding of API calls, API design, open APIs, API documentation, and API development.
  • Be able to lead in communicating plans and ideas through excellent documentation techniques to all relevant stakeholders
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through mentoring, feedback and metrics
  • Constantly research and keep abreast of best approaches and tools in the industry
  • Understanding of compliance in a regulated financial environment is a plus

What We Look for in Your Professional Skills

You’re likely to be educated with a computer science, math, or science degree equivalent with software engineering experience. You should have excellent communication skills (across all media) and have strong networking skills. You should have an in-depth understanding of the Southeast Asian markets or a strong interest in this region.

  •  7+ years of Product Management experience, preferably in a customer/user facing organization, with focus in delivery of SaaS or Enterprise Software solutions. You have ideally built APIs or digital financial services at scale and therefore possess a well-rounded knowledge of product systems, design thinking, and what’s possible to execute in code
  • Strong technical knowledge, is able to dive deep into technical discussions with engineers, capture and surface the key information.Deep understanding of technical platforms and digital financial services - you have worked in fintech, financial services (cards required - challenger banks, payment schemes or FX desirable)
  • Understanding of product management processes and agile ways of working - you can manage processes to help the team do its best work at different stages of growth
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership 
  • Self-starter who is analytical and creative in their thinking; ability to quickly analyse information and creatively reach solutions and to execute their implementation
  • Leadership capabilities and excellent communication skills - you can earn the trust of people from different teams/backgrounds with a collaborative approach
  • Capacity to get things done at short notice while collecting information from a variety of internal and external sources
  • Good organisational skills and the important ability to thrive in a fast moving, dynamic environment that is fun, while serious as well (we are responsible for other people’s money and we take this and our regulatory responsibilities very seriously).
  • Strong sense of ownership and drive - you are able to think and execute in a fast-moving, dynamic environment while prioritising across multiple projects
  • A passion for delighting customers, seeking user feedback and continuous product improvement
  • A strong interest in data and experimentation; you approach problems from an inquisitive and scientific perspective and are always looking for data to help make decisions, but you know how to balance quantitative and qualitative insights
