Reporting to the Air Traffic Manager Program Manager, as the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the technical, cost and schedule goals associated with the project are achieved in accordance with the contractual and company requirements, in order to deliver required business goals. In the conduct of assigned duties, the Project Manager must maintain the goodwill of the Customer and BAE Systems Australia management, competently manage sub-contractors and provide effective leadership to the project team.

In terms of more specific responsibilities, you will: 

  • Lead the project team to successfully execute the contract, and be accountable for all aspects of project delivery of the AGAT Ph3 Project, and support other related projects, as required.  This includes, but is not limited to:  AGAT Ph3 – including bids, mobilisation, Phase In and execution; AGAT Ph2 – support, including Phase Out; ATM ISS (S&C SPO) and survey and quote activities
  • Ensure the project team achieves the required performance in terms of schedule, budget and technical requirements
  • Carry out project reviews and support and/or execute phase reviews
  • Build and maintain customer relationships by being the main focal point for customer contact
  • Identify project opportunities and risks and develop mitigation strategies for pursuit throughout the project
  • Manage staff performance and drive the development, growth and career path development of the project team
  • Ensure project resource requirements, to meet current and future needs, are identified to the relevant function manager
  • Provide accurate reporting on project performance and status

 As an ideal applicant you will have: 

  • A Degree or Associate Diploma qualification, or relevant certification from the PMI or AIPM, along with significant project management experience within a similar role in an engineering discipline, with electronic domain knowledge
  • Experience in managing projects involving rapid prototyping, design, integration and manufacturing activities
  • Experience in managing the installation of remote sites, and the development and delivery of systems/products, where these may be complex in nature
  • Highly developed commercial skills and acumen, with well-developed negotiation skills
  • Exceptional leadership skills to provide leadership to a team and to mid to large scale projects
  • An ability to lead ongoing change to meet the continuously changing needs of the business
  • An ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders, in a way that generate business benefit, whilst maintaining key relationships

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
