MillTechFX was founded in January 2019 to provide corporates, institutions (e.g. endowments, charities and pension funds) and assets managers with direct access to transparent and competitive multi-bank rates offering low cost FX execution.  MillTechFX is an affiliate of Millennium Global Investments, one of the largest independent currency managers, and winner of the FT Currency Manager of the year.

Your Mission

As a Senior Risk Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the risk management framework, policies and procedures throughout the firm with a particular focus on those in Europe.  You will be working closely with the management team, regulators, external consultants and MillTechFX Risk and Compliance team in London to identify, evaluate and manage the firm’s risk items and to ensure the activities of the firm are compliant with regulatory requirements

You role requires you to develop a thorough understanding of our operations which, taken together with your experience and knowledge, will allow you to assess our risk appetite and develop the firm’s risk controls and policies, both at the corporate and at the business function’s level.  You will be responsible for assessing, identifying and monitoring the firm’s risks on an on-going basis.  You will also develop systems to provide early risk warning signals and advise on the appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

To be successful you will need a thorough understanding of foreign exchange and financial services regulation which is vital to risk management excellence throughout our European activities.

Your responsibilities in this role will include:

• Chair the monthly risk committee meeting and ensure the identified risks are accurately logged and monitored in the firm’s risk register;
• Ensure the agreed risk management and risk mitigation strategies are implemented and monitored;
• Ensure all risk limits, such as client NOP limits and margin thresholds, are calculated, monitored and communicated;
• Exercise oversight and be responsible for the transaction surveillance program, ensuring alerts are monitored and escalated to MLRO where required;
• Responsible for independent risk oversight on the Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA), validating and approving transaction cost analysis for the current and prospective clients;
• Working with the compliance department, regularly review and update the client KYC/AML procedure manual and ensure the client KYC/AML risk scoring framework is appropriate for onboarding clients and assessing clients on an on-going basis.;
• Lead or support risk activities and projects that enhance our global risk frameworks (counterparty risk, market risk) to enhance the firms risk systems and solutions;
• To review and improve our tools and processes as and when strategic corporate projects arise;
• Provide support to legal teams for the negotiation of ISDA/CSA/prime brokerage and related legal contracts;
• Providing regular and comprehensive reporting to management, Board and regulators;
• Provide support where necessary for audit, regulatory, management and client visits;
• Proactively providing information on new risk issues and developments in the market; and
• Ensure analysis, remediation and escalation where required of internal breaches and issues raised within the firm.

Required Skills:

• FRM Certification and Bachelor’s degree in relevant field;
• Previous operational risk experience within an asset manager, payments firm or Foreign Exchange firm;
• The ability to think outside the box on how to improve the efficiency of the overall business;
• Experience of ESMA, AMF and ACPR regulatory requirement;
• Strong written and verbal skills; and
• Fluent in English (imperative) with working knowledge of French.
