At LenioBio, we believe every person should have the opportunity to live a healthy and productive life. And how do we do this? We develop robust, efficient and sustainable technologies to disrupt the way medicines and food are produced for those in need, wherever they are.

We are in the midst of an incredible journey and we are looking for passionate individuals to join us on this important mission. Do you want to be part of our journey? Then please keep reading!

At LenioBio GmbH, everything we do begins with our mission: to provide our customers with disruptive solutions to address their challenges easier, quicker, cheaper, better and safer.

Our ALiCE technology scales with the pharmaceutical R&D process, from discovery to clinical trials/product testing and finally, to GMP-grade production, in the form of an end-to-end integrated production platform.

LenioBio aims to unlock the full potential of ALiCE and will enable protein drugs to be brought to market faster and at a lower cost.

About this job

We are looking for a senior scientist to help us better understand the ALiCE system at the molecular level. You will be our expert in understanding the protein glycosylation and molecular details of related post-translational modifications occurring in the proteins produced in ALiCE. You will also help us design experiments to engineer the glycan structures on cell-free produced proteins to make the proteins therapeutically more active as well as more acceptable for the regulatory agencies.

  • Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, you will support the development of glycoengineered proteins for the market in the framework of an EU-funded project (Eurostars).
  • Independently conduct experiments to understand the glycosylation and related post-translational modification on proteins produced in ALiCE®.
  • Engage in cutting edge scientific research, both within LenioBio and in collaboration with our academic and business partners in the Netherlands and Sweden to drive the Eurostars project
  • Contribute to scientific articles for publications and white papers and remain at the forefront of related scientific and industrial developments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop a business plan to bring the ALiCE® produced proteins to the therapeutic market

We are looking for people that want to bring in their best, learn from the best, and create the best. That does not mean you scored 180 on an IQ test. It means that you are an expert in your craft because you love what you do, you know you can become even better, and you are constantly looking for the boundary of the possible.

This job will suit you best if you

  • have a background in life sciences (M.Sc., PhD), biology or biochemistry
  • have deep knowledge of glyco-engineering, protein glycosylation and post-translational modifications
  • have hands-on proficiency with standard molecular biology and cellular techniques
  • experience with sub-cellular localization using biochemical and microscopic techniques would be a plus
  • are familiar with “our” workflow, including molecular cloning techniques, protein expression, and purification (incl. membrane proteins)

  • are fluent in English

  • have strong communication and presentation skills

  • are capable of working independently, are self-motivated and proactive

  • are a network/relationship builder and collaborator with a strong ability to influence and gain trust

  • sense of humor and passion for delivering on commitment

  • An opportunity to join an international, innovative, and fast-growing biotech company, with excellent career development opportunities, where you can develop yourself professionally and have a real impact in the company AND in science from day one

  • competitive salary
