We combine custom hardware, specialized lighting and optics, and world class vision algorithms to create embedded systems for next generation machine vision and barcodes reading industrial ‘smart-cameras’. This role is in the Platform Software team, responsible for developing embedded software, ranging from hardware driver development to complex protocols for inter-device communication.

About you:

Our ideal candidate is a pragmatic software professional with a can-do attitude who shares the enthusiasm for learning and applying any new development that helps to keep our software platform state of the art. Here's a list of some of the things we pay attention to in our hiring process:

• Master or bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• Experience writing C++ and C code required. Experience in Python code desired
• Interest or work experience desired in: Embedded Linux, Networking, Software architecture, API development; Scrum, clean code, development tools and test development
• High energy and motivated learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good presentation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Verbal and written fluency in English required

What you will do:

• Create software components shared across multiple teams, drivers for new components & sensors (e.g. optical & lightning), improve process communication, integrate network protocols and implement other high-level application functionality
• Debug and troubleshoot in a hardware and software environment on heterogeneous multi-core systems
• Ensure a robust and high-quality product by developing test automation
• Support and communicate with Cognex costumers and internal teams
• Occasional travel to the USA or Hungary
