Urovant Sciences, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing innovative therapies for urologic conditions and improving the way providers and their patients confront urologic diseases that are difficult to treat. Urovant’s lead product, GEMTESA® (Vibegron), is an oral, once-daily (75 mg) small molecule beta-3 agonist approved by the U.S. FDA in December 2020 for the treatment of adult patients with overactive bladder (OAB) with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency and urinary frequency. GEMTESA® is also being evaluated for the treatment of OAB in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (OAB+BPH).

Urovant’s second product candidate, URO-902, is a novel gene therapy being developed for patients with OAB who have failed oral pharmacologic therapy.

Urovant is looking to appoint a strategic business leader who can establish a strong European Headquarters that Urovant can successfully enter and grow their business in the European market through both organic and inorganic options.

This leader will be responsible for the development of the European business strategy and vision in close collaboration with the Executive Leadership and with US development teams as well as the potential operational execution of the commercial, market access and medical strategies for the region. S/he will be accountable for the region’s budget and for the direct management or oversight of the internal and external resources required to deliver outstanding results, aligned to both corporate and regional business goals. S/he will also be driving the European Business Development agenda in collaboration with global leadership.

The role will be reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Urovant Sciences Inc., Jim Robinson.

This successful candidate will possess a high level of proficiency, demonstrated experience, and expertise in the commercial function and will have a deep understanding of the full requirements to operate a Region including Development, Regulatory Affairs HEOR, CMO management and Supply Chain. The individual will develop and establish commercial capabilities, including stakeholder engagement, market access, commercial analytics, forecasting, and portfolio strategy. This highly visible role will be responsible for building and leading a best-in-class European organization in the achievement of its short-term and long-range business objectives.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and deliver an integrated European strategy that incorporates development, Regulatory as well as commercial aspects such as pricing and reimbursement, communications, business development, partnerships, and alliance management.
  • Build out a best-in-class European organization in line with corporate expansion plans. Establish a highly integrated, collaborative, and cohesive, multi-functional European team including R&D, regulatory, medical affairs, manufacturing, legal, HR, etc. in line with corporate expansion plans.
  • Provide commercial input to the corporate strategy and business development opportunities.
  • Identify future drivers for the urologic therapeutics’ arena in Europe, highlighting early trends and make recommendations to capitalize on opportunities and minimize risks.
  • Develop key external relationships including KOLs, healthcare organizations, professional societies, investors, and potential and existing partners.
  • Reinforce Urovant values and create a winning spirit; develop an inspirational, innovation-driven, excellence-oriented, team-centered culture.
  • Manage the P&L for Europe including operating budget, allocate resources effectively, design appropriate metrics, conduct frequent financial and performance reviews.
  • Serve as head of office and operations in Europe, providing leadership for all functional representatives in Swiss office.
  • Drive talent acquisition, succession planning, and professional development of the European Team.
  • The successful candidate will be based in Basel, Switzerland.

  • A strategic/analytical and results-driven thinker with the ability to plan, direct, and lead a robust Regional organization.
  • An experienced leader who can engage with scientific/ medical thought leaders and leverage strategic insight and operational excellence.
  • Knowledge and understanding of European market access, HEOR and Regulatory affairs.
  • A superior communicator with the ability to inspire confidence and engender external and internal trust and respect with peers, subordinates, and superiors.
  • A result and solutions-oriented manager supported by demonstrated project planning and implementation skills.
  • A team builder who employs expertise and influence to encourage collaboration across boundaries, levels and groups to achieve shared objectives.
