In our “offshore primary structures” team we are looking for a Software Development Engineer. For all our offshore wind farm projects, the team is responsible for performing project specific wind turbine load calculations and support structure design, focusing on the primary (load carrying) structure. An internal software development project team is responsible for development and maintenance of the engineering tools. Important aspects of the tool development are engineering process automation (e.g. structural load calculations) and user experience for the structural engineers. The software development project team works in a DevOps manner to improve quality and feature delivery. The project team is located in The Hague (NL).
What are the key responsibilities associated with the job?
Support the engineering tool development project using your expert knowledge in software development. The growing team consists of a highly motivated professionals with either a general engineering or software engineering background;
Assist the team in a large, challenging and exciting migration from a legacy system to a modern Service Orientated Cloud based (micro-service) Architecture;
Help implement DevOps best practices. This includes designing the CI/CD Pipelines and the runtime environment in the Cloud.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
You have at least 3 years of experience in software development within one or several companies. You are up to date with the best practices and are willing to share your knowledge and improve our way of working;
You are well acquainted with agile project management approaches and tools (Scrum, Kanban);
You have proven experience in working with an Azure/AWS/GCP Cloud environment, micro-services and container-based systems (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes);
Experience in setting up a docker based CI & CD pipeline is considered a pro;
You are willing to take on a legacy code base and change it into something that we are proud of;
You thrive in an international environment: our projects bring together various employee groups, nationalities, cultures and authorities;
We are looking for a person with good communication and presentation skills;
You can adapt to new technologies, learn quickly and pass on this knowledge to other team members;
You can zoom out and focus on the larger picture, and not only attempt to fix the here and now;
You are living in the Netherlands or willing to move to the Netherlands. You are in possession of a valid work permit.
