Job Description

Solution Analyst is a member of the IT solutions team and is responsible for understanding business needs and collaborating with other technology stakeholders to deliver high quality, technology based, business solutions. Successful candidate will join the Crew Management Programme (CMP), which aims to improve cockpit and cabin crew roster process and related systems. She/ He may be assigned to handle the following tasks:

1. Setup AWS (Cloud) environment for CMP

  • Docker base image
  • EC2
  • RDS (Mongo/Aurora)
  • Elastic cache
  • S3/ EFS
  • Blue/Green environment setup
  • Integration with Kibana & ElasticSearch to facilitate audit & problem diagnosis

2. Manage of CMP vendor applications JCP/JCR and Software release

  • regular build and deployments of vendor product releases
  • setup of training environment to support biz user training
  • CI/CD pipeline setup

3. Work with Infra team for infrastructure related setup such as infra software installation and setup, firewall setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Solution Analysts will, in collaboration with key stakeholders,:
    • Understand, capture and communicate business direction, challenges and requirements
    • Plan and execute tasks / initiatives
    • Participate in solution discussion.  Evaluate and propose solution approaches
    • IT solution implementation and conduct periodic implementation reviews
    • Ensure that all solutions adhere to the Cathay IT standard and practice
    • Support business process change
    • Test all solution aspects including, but not limited to acceptance, security, performance, integration
    • Support work required to successfully pass through all relevant project gates
    • Deliver business solutions that include technology implementations and/or adaptations
  • Provides technical/functional assistance in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet user requirements
  • Work closely with solution architects to ensure decisions meet long-term growth need for Cathay Pacific
  • Lead code reviews
  • Hands on technical implementation may be required
  • Work with external 3rd parties as required
  • Support continuous improvement of standard Cathay IT Practices
  • Keep abreast of latest trends in technology, industry and corresponding business domain

Requirements

  • University Graduate.  Business, Procurement and or Hospitality related degree an advantage
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant commercial experience in a relevant environment (knowledge of inflight catering/equipment an advantage)
  • Strong background in Procurement.  A relevant professional qualification an advantage (e.g. CIPS)
  • Relevant experience in supply market analysis, cost evaluation and contract management
  • Knowledge of the category economics and operating model
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and commercial skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to effectively Degree qualification in Information Technology related discipline
  • 4 years of related IT experience across the full System Development Lifecycle, covering but not limited to:
    • System analysis
    • Solution definition
    • Solution development
    • Solution implementation
  • Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, leveraging both logic and creativity
  • Advanced expertise in SDLC – Agile and DevOps is beneficial
  • Strong troubleshooting skills; ability to identify patterns and generate ideas
  • Must be well organized, thrive in a sense-of-urgency environment, leverage best practices, and most importantly, innovate through any problem with a can-do attitude
  • Effective verbal and written communication skill
  • Knowledge of design patterns and best practices
  • Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Airline knowledge is beneficial
  • Solid experience in Oracle database, MS SQL, Java, J2EE, CI/CD pipeline setup with GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, etc
  • Advantage to have experience in AWS Cloud environment management, microservice design and programming, web development framework such as Spring
