Syneos Health Enterprise Architecture is implementing a broad strategy for application modernization that will bring applications up to industry leading standards and provide a pathway for applications to achieve high levels of security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability. The Solutions Architect will report to the Principal Solutions Architect in Business Technology and support development of standards and best practices for application architectures for business applications. The Solutions Architect will build and execute a plan to modernize applications and design information information systems which will support the enterprise needs of the organization.
The role requires knowledge of various technology stacks, both legacy and modern platforms. Under the direction of the Principal Solutions Architect, the Architect will develop checklists to guide application teams on standards adoption and will assist each application team to develop and maintain an application roadmap.
Develop and promote architecture standards cross functionally
Contribute to future state reference architectures that will provide a template for teams to achieve security, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Participate in discussions with application owners and developers and make architecture recommendations
Conduct architecture assessments and identify tactical remediation and long-term future state architecture for applications.
Promote adoption of application development and DevOps best practices.
Interpret results from static code analysis.
Support and collaborate on application transformation efforts
Act as an advisor cross functionally when application architecture decisions are needed
Expertise with .Net and Java application architecture. Knowledge of additional development technologies including Python, PHP, Coldfusion, SAS, R. Knowledge of low code platforms such as Appian, Microsoft Power Apps, Oracle APEX, Salesforce, middleware concepts
Expertise in architecting security and reliable physical architectures for applications at the network, server, and storage level.
Security architecture skills with detailed understanding of best practices for Authentication, Authorization, Perimeter security, and Data privacy and encryption.
Knowledge of database architecture best practices including Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server.
Microsoft Azure Cloud skills.
Knowledge of integration architecture and API best practices.
Experience with architecture modelling. Understand common modelling techniques for context, component, collaboration/integration, data models, and deployment diagrams.
Knowledge of Disaster Recovery and methods to establish that enable business continuity
Based on criticality and cost
Knowledge or experience with various Application security capabilities such as SAST, DAST, IAST, RASP, Threat Modelling, Fuzz Testing, and or Penetration Testing desired
Knowledge or experience with OWASP, CIS, FDA, HIPAA, NIST and or OSI standards desired
Knowledge or experience in resolving security related issues identified in the OWASP Top 10 or SANS Top 25 desired
Knowledge of highly available architectures
Desired education and or Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Six plus years of related experience
Knowledge of Agile and Software Development methodologies
Desirable are any Industry Certifications such as: TOGAF, IASA CITA (Certified IT Architect), ISC2 ISSAP (Information Systems Security Architecture Professional), ISC2 CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional), ITIL.
