As part of our multi-national team you will lead the definition of the next generation of data storage solutions for our clients for space mission operational data, including housekeeping telemetry, command histories, operational procedures, flight dynamics products and mission specific data.
The role will include the implementation of the chosen solutions, associated migration strategies and processes for ensuring the validity and completeness of migrated data to storage solution compatible with both current operational needs and future needs, e.g. supporting machine learning and data science on historical data for the development of future applications.
University degree in Computer Engineering, Data Science or similar field
The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills:
Proven understanding of relational and non-relational database technologies currently in use within the European space industry (MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres SQL, Hadoop/HBase)
Demonstrated experience with defining database structures aligned to the expected use cases, e.g. optimized for retrieval and visualization and optimized for data science
Experience in deploying data storage solutions in private and hybrid cloud environments
Proficiency in C++ / Java development on Linux systems
Empathic communications skills to share design rational with both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to work independently in a client facing role
Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, clients and partners.
Proficiency in English, both in speech and writing
Additional desirable skills are:
Knowledge of current EGOS operational mission data management systems, such as ARES
Knowledge of additional scripting languages such as Python
Knowledge of ESOC SDE, DevOps approach and operational environment
Familiarity with applicable space engineering and quality standards, such as CCSDS
An understanding of the goals of the EGOS-CC and EGS-CC programmes
