Objective of Role

This role will serve as the single point of contract for all financial matters relating to the incentive compensation programs of Alight’s Commercial Function.

In this newly created role, you will develop a comprehensive knowledge of Alight’s commercial incentive programs and implement appropriate reporting and analytics to support the annual planning cycle. You will work closely with commercial leadership and implement robust modelling to test designs of the incentive compensation programs and the estimated spend.

On an ongoing basis, you will implement and deliver monthly reporting and analysis on incentive compensation spend, and supplement that reporting with monthly monitoring on the performance of the incentive compensation programs.

You will play a critical role in establishing a tightly controlled environment for the commercial incentive programs and will communicate directly and often with senior leaders in the commercial function.

Responsibilities

Annual Planning

  • Work with Commercial Leadership and HR to manage the annual budgeting process for incentive compensation of the commercial function
  • Implement and deliver effective financial modelling to test the designs of the incentive compensation programs and the expected spend of those programs
  • Consult with accounting to assess appropriate accounting treatment of the incentive compensation programs
  • Facilitate meetings with the Chief Commercial Officer and Commercial Finance Leader to review progress during the annual budgeting process
  • Review plan documents of the incentive compensation programs to ensure clarity on how the programs work and the financial impact of those programs
  • Partner with the FP&A team to submit budget assumptions into Alight’s financial systems
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive commission schedule to support the budgeting assumptions for commission expense and deferrals
Monthly FP&A
  • Review commercial results and assess the impact on incentive compensation
  • Implement appropriate routines that link commercial results data to the comprehensive commission schedule to assess variances in expense
  • Work with Sales Operations and Accounting to ensure appropriate journal entries are booked to record the expense of the incentive compensation plans
  • Implement appropriate metrics and analysis to assess the reasonableness of the monthly/quarterly accounting entries
  • Partner with the FP&A team to review accounting entries and explain variances to budgeted/forecasted spend
  • Work with Sales Operations and HR to implement appropriate reporting that monitors the performance of the incentive compensation programs
Ad hoc incentive programs and SPIFFs
  • Partner with commercial leadership to implement ad hoc incentive programs and SPIFFS
  • Develop the appropriate analytics to assess the potential spend of these short-term incentive programs and review with commercial leadership
  • Develop financial forecasts and update the comprehensive commission schedule as needed
  • Implement appropriate routines that link commercial results data to the comprehensive commission schedule to assess variances in expense
  • Partner with the FP&A team to update the forecasted spend in Alight’s financial systems
  • Work with Sales Operations and HR to implement appropriate reporting that monitors the performance of the incentive compensation programs
Quarterly reviews of the Incentive Compensation Programs
  • Partner with sales ops and HR to produce appropriate reporting that measures the spend of the incentive programs and the effectiveness of its design
  • Develop and implement appropriate KPIs
Background and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a corporate environment
  • Experience with incentive compensation programs
  • Experience with Salesforce.com, PowerBI, Tableau, Workday, Adaptive Insights
  • Experience working with a global workforce

  • Solid business acumen, commercially aware

  • An assertive communicator with effective presentation skills
  • Detailed oriented but with the ability quickly synthesize key messages and present to senior leadership
  • Highly proficient in excel with very strong modelling skills
