Job Description
The Commercial Development Specialist role is to increase awareness of the importance of genomics research and infrastructure in order to promote innovation and economic growth, with the aim of increasing large-scale projects, drive policy change and reimbursement for genetic/genomic testing, thereby increasing access to genetic/genomic testing and improve patient care.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
Increase awareness amongst federal ministries, departments, agencies and funders of the importance of genomics research and infrastructure in order to promote innovation and economic growth, with the aim of increasing large-scale federal funding opportunities for genomics.
Uncover and develop large scale WGS projects/programs and drive a regional PopGen Initiative
Drive Policy Change at the government level to enable patriation of testing, reimbursement for genetic/genomic testing, and integration of cWGS into health systems
Interface with corporate Medical Affairs, Market Access and Government Affair teams to define regional strategies and execution of appropriate needs
Participates in strategic sales activities and works closely with local Territory Account Managers and District Sales Manager to achieve sales objectives
Maintains an effective, professional working relationship with internal customers and product development groups.
Attendance at tradeshows/conferences
Appropriately utilize company resources required to support a sale, with regard to company operating expenses.
Spend at least 50% of their time in the field developing customer relationships.
Represents the company professionally, scientifically, ethically and morally at all times.

Preferred Experiential Background:
5+ years of experience in Life Science sales or a related area.
Working Proficiency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English both written and verbal.
Strong understanding of current trends, challenges, and opportunities within healthcare industry.
Strong technical background in molecular biology or genomics is required.
Well-developed professional and strategic sales skills with proven ability to develop and grow key accounts through networking at all levels on the customer organization.
Strong technical presentation skills. Comfortable interacting with audiences of different levels.
Able to develop and maintain current knowledge of genomics and sequencing applications
Highly self-motivated, independent, and successful individual who enjoys a challenging and dynamic work environment
Strong desire to win business and establish long term customer relationships
Excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills.
Detail and service-oriented individual.
Highly adaptable and independent
Educational requirement:
BA/BS or MS degree in Life Sciences, PhD preferred
