Elsevier Life Sciences Solutions team as an Senior User Experience
Designer working on products that significantly contribute to the areas
of Drug Safety, Biomedicine and Pharmacology, making the real impact on
quality of life and patients well-being.
In
this role, you’ll be guiding and mentoring off-shore as well as
collaborating with on-site colleagues from different divisions. You’ll
get an opportunity to work alongside a Head Of UX, developing your
talent by getting the expertise from Elsevier major and well-known
products like Scopus, Mendeley and Science Direct.
We are looking
for an innovative UX designer with strong user research and interaction
design skills who has a systematic approach and a strong user focus.
You will create solutions that drive coherence across many Elsevier
products. You will work directly with designers, product managers and
developers. It is a unique opportunity to work with a robust team of
more than 70 UX professionals internationally, and be part of one of the
world’s foremost leaders in information analytics and publishing.
Key responsibilities include:
• Drive the UCD process of understand, design and evaluate, ensuring users are considered at every phase of the product development process
• Explore UX solutions in and across products, demonstrating options in well-crafted prototypes and diagrams, and including deliverables for information architecture and user scenarios.
• Facilitate internal workshops to uncover and solidify user needs and business requirements.
• Able to take a strategic view of the workflow of our users and how to support that workflow across products.
• Plan and carry out concept- and usability testing, analyze the outcomes, and translate this into insights, personas, and user journeys.
• Strong technical and personal skills to mentor cross-functional teams and strong communication skills and fluency in English. Manage relationships with customers, users, product managers, designers and developers.
• A positive, constructive approach with an emphasis on collaboration and flexibility.
• Interest and passion for creating design systems at large, making the rest of the organisation more agile and increasing quality of the user experience.
• Actively work on improving the UX design process and the quality of UX deliverables, with a focus on the Elsevier design system and UX patterns.
• Be proactive suggesting ideas to Product Owner and driving their implementation forward
• Able to work with customers on-site directly in their location
Qualifications:
• Bachelor or Master Degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) or related preferred; or related work experience.
• At least 3 years’ experience of designing complex information and workflow products across web and mobile, with at least 1 year in a more leading UX role.
• A strong (online) portfolio demonstrating experience of creating compelling products and services that meet user needs, product requirements, and business goals.
• Always thinking of the user first and approach design from a user point of view, based on actual data. Experience with planning and executing user testing: concept testing; structured interviews; usability testing; observing users; a/b testing; defining user metrics; analyzing qualitative data; translating user data into user insights and recommendations; communicating user insights in the project team, as well as further across the organization.
• Experience with creating, maintaining and applying design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries. Good knowledge of the technology behind web-based products, design systems, and UI libraries.
• Experience working in an agile environment with product owners and developers demonstrated the capability to rationalize your design solutions and convince stakeholders. Comfortable to reflect on the design process, provide feedback and take feedback, and propose ideas to improve the design process.
