Then working as a TSO (Technical Support Office) Specialist, within the engineering system discipline for Lloyd’s Register is something for you! What does the role offer?

In this varied role you will be responsible for the design appraisal (and consultancy) of propulsion and piping systems of different ship  types, the machinery, equipment and components for compliance with Lloyd’s Register Rules & Regulations, various statutory codes and International/National Standards in a consistent and timely manner for both new construction and conversions projects. Preparation of the associated correspondence in accordance with the applicable procedures and liaison with clients, providing technical advice to internal and external clients and project management are also parts of your job.

The work is office based from our office in Rotterdam. You will occasionally be required local traveling to shipyards and you might be requested to take part in negotiations or meetings with shipyards, flag administration and kick-off meetings with clients. You will be reporting to Senior Specialist in Charge Engineering Systems.

What do you need?

  • A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd’s Register within
    the relevant field of engineering or physical science (minimum of two years programme)
    or Qualifications from a marine or nautical institution and relevant sea-going experience
    as a certificated ship’s officer.
  • Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work.
  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
  • Knowledge and experience with ship and machinery piping systems, strength calculations and vibration evaluations.
