Responsible for defining measurement inspection strategy and method selection for NPI based on principles of measurement, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements. Provides process direction for the creation, optimization and qualification of inspection programs associated with all forms of CMM’s in use in Stryker facilities and with suppliers.
Be the technical and strategic reference point and expert for AO on inspection techniques, inspection measurement and test equipment and Technologies.
Advise project teams on optimization of new product prints finalized to DFI
Define and apply new and leading edge principles of measurement science
Work with design team to ensure DFI principles are implemented.
Support vendor’s in IMTE selection and standardization,
Plan and conduct engineering and metrology research including the identification, investigation and implementation of new advanced metrology and inspection systems and technologies
Coach and advise all engineering groups on analysis of inspection data, gage R&R results and inspection methods to establish optimum process parameters
Redesign or adjust measurement capability to minimize errors
Develop inspection methods and techniques and assists in the selection and qualification of complex IMTE, based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements
Direct AO teams in design through on geometric tolerancing, tolerance stack-ups and gauge design
Be able to challenge Vendor and Internal Designers on the interpretation of product design drawings.
Be able to read CAD drawings and apply GD&T tolerancing principles to the ASME Y 14.5M 1994 ( R 2004) and ASME Y14.43 Standard
Qualification Knowledge Skills
Previous experience in CMM operation and inspection software programming essential
Aukom L 3 (or similar) an advantage
GD&T experience/qualification essential e.g. ASME Y14.43 and must be able to read and interpret detailed mechanical prints
Experience with Creo (CAD) and advantage
Demonstrated ability and experience in six sigma or equivalent principles desirable
Demonstrated application of applied statistics principles in line with business improvement and needs
Ability to identify and challenge non-value-added inspection
Demonstrated ability to carry out detailed reviews of processes in line with external standards and regulatory requirements
