Position Description
Position Purpose:

The Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the SSA Marketing Team to deliver the Business’s strategic growth plan for all business units under the SSA umbrella. The role is responsible for delivering the strategic marketing plans through effective leadership as well as play an active, impactful role in the SSALT (SSA Leadership Team)
Key Accountabilities:

  • Leadership: Build and Develop a high performing marketing team with considering a fit for future structure and talent pipeline. Provide leadership, direction and capability development for team including associated coaching, supervision and administrative duties
  • Executive Team: Play an active and valuable role in the SSALT team, representing Strategic Marketing and business support functions
  • Sales Target Strategy: support the development of the business strategy, ensuring marketing insights (competitors, trends, customer feedback) are incorporated to position CHEP to grow.  
  • Value Proposition: Accountable for delivering continuously upgraded tools, material and training of/for our value proposition for the various industries CHEP serves in SSA.
  • Competitor Response: Based onMarket Intelligence (Voice of Business and Voice of Customer), accountable to deliver appropriate material and training to relevant customer facing teams on how to respond to existing and new competitive threats in the market.
  • Sales Enablement: Empower the Sales & Enablement Manager to deliver compelling and continuous training to the business development teams in line with the regions’ strategic growth aspirations. Work with Sales, Marketing and Leadership teams to create and implement repeatable programs, processes and best practices. Identify, package and export best practices, tools, tactics and learnings across CHEP Auto Europe in order to drive increased Marketing impact and reduce duplication of efforts and costs
  • Lead Generation: Accountable for lead generation and lead management programs, considering the Digital strategy, lead generation tools as well as Traditional marketing techniques.
  • Brand Awareness: Pioneer Customer Summit programs to position CHEP in the market as a Thought Leader. Become the ambassador and spokesperson for CHEP SSA in the Media and at Trade Fairs.
  • Marketing Plan: Deliver a sound offline and online marketing plans to support the region’s growth, employer and sustainability strategies. Ensure that marketing programmes and activities are executed within brand guidelines and coordinated with global initiatives and programs. The plans should also consider both traditional and digital strategy and tools to reach the target audience.
  • Own the Marketing budget for SSA in line with the Marketing Plan..

Innovation – support and inform initiatives aimed at improving the customer experience and developing new sources of growth for the future. Engage with Sales, Customer and Industry contacts in order to advance and improve these initiatives

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 10 years plus marketing experience with identified track records in setting and executing strategies to generating revenue through marketing programme design, development and delivery,
  • Professional degree or equivalent in marketing, sales or related discipline.
  • Experience in Leading teams
  • Concrete customer facing experience
  • Strong experience planning and executing B2B marketing solutions, strategies and programmes to meet revenue and lead generation targets, create impactful market positioning, and enable the sales and commercial teams
  • Supply Chain management experience would be advantageous
  • Understand the complexities involved in working in a matrix organisation and with various stakeholders within the organisation
    • Leadership skills
    • Experience of Microsoft packages (PowerPoint, Excel, Word etc.)
    • Able to manage ambiguity
    • Confident – ability to formulate own opinion
    • Self-starter, able to work with a distant management and with distant team members
    • Knowledge of marketing and general business administration
    • Understanding of the CHEP business, processes, industries and customers served
    • Ability to retain professionalism and performance whilst working under pressure
    • Excellent Interpersonal skills / savvy and cultural awareness
