WSP is currently initiating a search for a
Structural (Buildings)/Civil Engineer to work on a Puerto Rico Debris Project/Solidaridad PPDR ReStart project in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This position is anticipated to last for 6-8 months, or until project ends.
This position requires travel in personal vehicle (up to 60% of time) to locations throughout Puerto Rico, to perform site assessments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform site visits and structural inspections of properties
Take field measurements and photos to develop a not-to-scale sketch
Write inspection report with professional recommendation to demolish, or not or to perform partial demolition, taking into account field observations from damages caused by or as a result of Hurricane Maria.
Sign/seal report and demolition permit to submit to OGPE.

BS Civil Engineering
7+ years structural/civil engineering experience, with focus on buildings inspection and evaluation of damage due to natural disaster
Valid Professional Engineer License in Puerto Rico and good standing membership with the CIAPR
Position requires travel in personal vehicle, up to 60% of time
Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening, as well as providing DTOP-DIS-699 Driver or Authorized Owner Driving Record Certificate
Strong English and Spanish verbal and technical reporting writing skills
Ability to work in the field, and with varied conditions, including around damaged structures and uneven terrain
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Prior FEMA/disaster housing inspection experience
