Production in this region takes place in 9 countries across Europe and the products find their way to distributors and farmers in more than 75 countries. Cargill’s pre-mix and nutrition business has locations in the UK & Ireland employing approximately 170 employees across three sites with an annual turnover of approximately $100m.
The Production Supervisor will manage a team of process operators and apprentices in the manufacture of specialty feeds and premixes, in a controlled, safe and environmentally compliant manner in order to meet production targets. The position holder will ensure that Cargill safety and performance standards are maintained and advanced. The position holder will work closely with the site Production Manager. The Supervisor is responsible for communicating, safety, environmental, production and maintenance issues during the shift and in the absence of the Production Manager cover their role.

Hours: 06:00-15;00 Monday- Thursday, 06:00-14:00 Friday
Main Tasks:
  • To be responsible for the health and safety for all employees on shift and to act as the incident controller in the event of an incident/ accident for the whole site
  • To promote and maintain the Cargill safety and environmental standards inline with the sites safety culture
  • Complete and assist in safety audits, risk assessments, permit to work documentation and safety conversations
  • Monitor environmental emissions, non-conforming products and report these in a timely manner
  • Ensure that operating parameters are met and any deviation from these are reported to ensure continued compliance with ISO and GMP standards
  • Assist in internal quality audits and assist on customer visits and audits to the site
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in all areas of the plant
  • Manage a team of operators to ensure they are adhering to operational parameters, responsible for shift output and KPI’s and put into place corrective actions if actuals are below shift targets
  • to be responsible for the shift handover including safety reporting, finished product figures, production, downtime and next shift priorities
  • Be ‘hands on’ where required to provide assistance to the shift Maintenance Technician
  • To assist with the site utilities out of hours
  • Set and maintain priorities ensure correct resource is available including but not limited to; product, utilities, maintenance resource
  • To manage the plant shutdown
  • To be responsible for the recruitment, training, performance management and absence/ disciplinary process for employees
  • Ensure a focus on continious improvement at all times, cost saving initiatives and waste reduction
  • Coordinate with supply chain for stock counts and collaborate with other key stakeholders (EHS, Planning, Customer Services, FSQR and Technical).


  • College degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
  • Proven production experience in a centrally controlled process environment
  • Strong experience in leading people safely and developing people
  • Excellent understanding of food safety and quality standards, health and safety requirements and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
  • Ideally a formal health and safety qualification
  • Willingness to work in a challenging, physical production environment
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, handling conflicting priorities
