The Role
Broadspectrum has recently been awarded a large contract at BHP Olympic Dam, and is looking for a Supervisor – Mechanical seeking their next opportunity to grow and build a core delivery team at Roxby Downs.  The successful applicant will be responsible for the on-site day-to-day supervision of both surface and underground projects to facilitate incident free delivery, with timely and successful completion. The incumbent will be responsible for issues related to budget, delivery, risk management, client relationships, site labour, site subcontractor management, materials and plant, budget, variation management and costing resolutions, HSE, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, community and industrial relations, in order to achieve on-site contract performance. This role is site based located at BHP Olympic Dam, FIFO/DIDO considered.
Responsibilities includes but not limited to;

  • Supervise team members and be a “role model” through leading in a way that positively demonstrates the Broadspectrum behaviors and values.
  • In conjunction with instruction from Site Management, schedule the day-to-day operational activities of the various employees.
  • Ensure personnel have a clear understanding of the daily tasks they are expected to undertake and the times in which they are expected to deliver completion of the task. 
  • Coordinate and deliver project tenders, including the development of work method statements, schedule and estimate 
  • Ability to challenge and input to tender estimates
  • Monitor and track tender submissions and upcoming projects 
  • Organize and arrange materials, plant and equipment for the day to day and look-ahead work activities for the work team.
  • Manage site activities of sub subcontractors.
  • Prepare/write job procedures / SWMS as required.
  • Ensure the timely execution and completion of the works is conducted in a safe manner, to a quality standard and without the need to perform costly reworks. 
  • Assist Site Management to ensure the overall safety / environmental compliance, quality / documentation, efficiency / productivity, team organisation and customer service performance.
  • Ensure members of the team attend to the care, condition, security and maintenance of all Broadspectrum and Customer tools, plant, vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct a pre-start survey of all Work Orders, identify and arrange all requirements prior to the execution of and until completion of the Work Order. 
  • Develop a professional and solid communicative working relationship with Client representatives. 
  • Conduct daily pre-start toolbox meeting with due consultation and discussion on relevant incidents, safety issues and daily work related matters. 
  • Identify and initiate ways to minimise unproductive hours, whilst continually looking at methods for efficiency gains within safe work practice guidelines.
  • Ensure strict compliance to Award conditions, Company standards and other applicable protocol when dealing with an employee found to be in breach of a safety standard or unacceptable work practice and involves a disciplinary action or a potential situation that may lead to such an action. 
  • Ensure Customer Complaints, whether verbal or written are immediately escalated to Site Management for timely resolve within the timeframes and guidelines as nominated in Company procedures.  
  • Monitor or inspect all worksites daily, ensuring safety and quality standards are consistently upheld in work practices, employee behaviours and housekeeping, e.g. by spending sufficient daily hours in the field, using HSE Worksite Inspection and Observation documents in compliance with LCP targets.
  • Ensure that all Plant and Equipment has been inspected and holds a current inspection tag.
  • Tag out all plant and equipment that is faulty or inspection date is overdue.
  • Provide employee timesheets to Site Management on a daily basis.
  • Report any incidents, accidents or near miss’s to management immediately in accordance with company policy and procedures.  Lead and/or be involved in incident investigations when required.
  • Coach and mentor employee’s in writing of THA for each task. 
  • Continually seek improvement in the existing processes and logging improvements in the Broadspectrum Better Way Program.
