As the Global Supplier Quality Leader for Stryker, you are responsible to support and enable COGS of >$3 Billion, with supply base of 4000+ suppliers including new acquisitions and lead Global teams with 15+ sites supporting multiple Divisions. You will also:
Direct and monitor quality programs, systems and teams throughout Global Supply network to ensure regulatory compliance, continual improvement in reducing supplier disruptions, defects, customer complaints and field actions. Develops & Implements the quality improvement plan with suppliers in accordance with Stryker’s mission & strategic goals
Partner with Commercial Divisions, Procurement and Operations to enable reduction in cost of poor quality and direct material costs. Partner with Operations Quality, Commercial Divisions and M&A teams in conducting supplier quality due diligence and integration of supplier controls in acquired sites. Be very comfortable communicating across all levels of management including executive leadership level.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Direct the activities of Supplier Quality Engineering, Original Equipment and Contract Manufacturing, and Improvement teams to prevent, reduce and continuously improve supplier performance within Stryker sites including the selection of new suppliers. Collaborate with Procurement and Suppliers to conduct quality improvement activities within supplier processes to prevent supplier non-conformances from reaching Stryker sites.
Be responsible for the strategic planning, and management of global supplier quality activities as a whole. Leading the supplier quality teams to effectively execute daily activities in partner with global procurement, divisions and all other relevant across functional groups.
Develop medium to long term vision and strategies of the Supplier Quality organization in line with global network leadership.
Develop tactics to drive rapid response to potential supplier non-conforming material excursions, robust qualification procedures, and timely Supplier Change Request disposition.
Establish tools and mechanisms to monitor supplier quality performance and engage improvement programs when indicated to reduce non-conformities flowing to Stryker plants.
Participate in annual and periodic supplier performance reviews and providing supplier quality and compliance inputs to supplier scorecards.
Deploy procedures to ensure compliant and robust completion of supplier change requests.
Deploy procedures to ensure supplier processes are qualified and capable of producing conforming material before changes are implemented.
Ensure supplier quality engineering teams conduct their work in accordance with quality system procedures and are prepared to defend their work in audits both internal and external.
Ensure timely involvement of the supplier quality organization in Operations, AO, R&D NPI and M&A activities relating to suppliers.
Identify and communicate to global Quality leadership issues that impact product quality, safety or efficacy, regulatory compliance or business continuity which have arisen via local holds, global holds and/or customer complaints.
Direct the activities of the global SQE improvement and SPOC teams driving collaboration, innovation and improvement with suppliers to deliver quality, cost and growth with Stryker. Introduce and implement strategic business initiatives with Procurement that will help to ensure the external supply chain is capable of meeting expectations from a quality, delivery and cost perspective.
Ensure that Supplier Quality teams are filled with talented, engaged and continually developed team members in accordance with budgeted staffing and expense levels.
Develop appropriate quality systems, skills and organizational structure to meet quality expectations and business needs.
Develop and monitor budgets for the Global Supply Supplier Quality function, including ensuring appropriate resources to meet/exceed plant quality goals and Global Operation and Divisions’ objectives.
Recruit, coach, develop, and lead a highly effective and motivated supplier quality group across multiple geographical locations while mentoring and coaching the team in leading best practices in supplier quality and ensure their ongoing career development.
Perform periodic talent reviews and ensure succession plans are in place for key leadership and technical roles.
Initiate and enhance training programs to advance understanding of regulatory requirements, supplier quality improvement programs and problem solving techniques.
Leverage talent and experience across Stryker and drive a standardized approach to Supplier Quality across the global network.
Partner with Quality, Division, Corporate, Procurement and Operations leaders ensuring that a culture of Quality First and Compliance Always is promoted and strengthened within Stryker and our Suppliers.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
Degree in Engineering with Science discipline or equivalent. 15+ years relevant quality, operations and supply chain experience in GMP manufacturing environment in Medical Device, Pharma, Automotive or Aerospace industry.
10+ years relevant experience with at least 7 years leading teams in a large, complex organization
Preferred knowledge of U.S. Food and Drug regulations , as well as of European and international regulatory/industry guidelines/standards, and ability to interpret and apply.
Experience of managing inspections/audits by the FDA or other regulatory bodies
Demonstrates the ability to lead and navigate in a matrix and global organization with a broad scope and high level of complexity.
Working knowledge of quality tools such as SPC / Process Control, FMEA, APQP, PPAP/FAI, FMEA, MSA, Control Plan, & Control Charts, Problem Solving / Root Cause Analysis, Poka-Yoke, and other Six Sigma tools.
Leadership ability to develop and implement organization and functional strategy. Initiates, sponsors and implements change and a demonstrated track record in QA Improvement.
