The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for production planning, production procurement , inventory management, and logistics readiness and execution for all external manufactured products.  Executing a rigorous S&OP process, the Supply Chain Manager will ensure sustained product supply, meet inventory turns target, achieve On time In Full and Line Item Fill Rate metrics and execute and communicate What If scenarios for management review and decision-making.

All incumbents are responsible for follow ing applicable Division & Company policies and procedures .

Scope of Authority – span of control (work unit, site, department, division , etc. ) , monetary value of budget/spend authority ( capital, operating , etc. ), P&L responsibility, etc.

Managing the production planning, production procurement and inventory management of multiple CMOs

Production Planning

  • Utilizing SAP ECC, analyze MRP batch run at External Supply Operations virtual plant . 
  • Make necessary adjustments to meet the consensus demand forecast/Commercial requirements and inventory targets for all CMO managed SKUs. 
  • Present monthly Master Production Plan for review and approval thru S&OP process.  Submit MPP to CMOs for execution.
  • Ensure all ECC master data related to Production Planning is always accurate

Production Procurement

Utilizing SAP ECC, create, issue and maintain all Purchase Orders associated with the MPP.  Rigorously maintain correct PO data (delivery date, quantity, cost , etc) and status

Inventory Management & Reconciliation

Utilizing SAP ECC, each month record snapshot of inventory in virtual SAP plants, comparing and reconciling any differences first with CMO, vetting inventory write-offs with management for approval

Logistics Readiness & Execution

  • Own the logistics readiness and execution (physical movement of goods, logical movement of goods in SAP) for each assigned Lane.  Create, implement and maintain a Logistics Lane SOP. 
  • Work closely with Freight Forwarder/Broker and CMO to ensure accurate and lawful completion and filing of government required Export/Import/Clearance documentation

Lead monthly Supply Operations Master Production Plan Review Meeting.  Present Sales vs Forecast, detail Firm Fence production/supply progress at CMO, recommend new POs, present forecast of production outside Firm Fence , present What If scenarios


Issue Resolution

Lead CMO Supply Operations m eeting s .  Lead discussion and issue resolution of supply chain activities to ensure sustained product supply.  Contributor to the Change Control process/program .





Education & Experience

Minimal acceptable leve l of education, work experience an d certification s required for the job

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management 
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant pharmaceutical industry experience in supply chain and manufacturing.  With demonstrated experience in production planning, operations management, purchasing, logistics, import/export, quality assurance and information technology
  • Experience in managing supply chain management in a CMO environment
  • Wor king knowledge of finance, marketing and distribution


Proficiency in a body of information required for the job   

e.g. knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP/GLP /GCP , Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, etc.

  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and systems for sourcing drug products and active pharmaceutical ingredients.  Consid ered as a Subject Matter Expert in Planning, Procurement, Logistics
  • Well-developed interpersonal and commun ication skills with ability to work effectively in matrix organizations
  • Supply planning for new product launches and technology transfers
  • Demonstrated success in leading site S&OP teams
  • Extensive user knowledge of ERP systems, ie SAP (APO, R/3, BI)

Physical Requirements

Physical & mental requirements     e.g. lift 40 pounds, walk across plant/warehouse, business travel (% of time), driving as part of work responsibilities, etc.
