Thorn SDS is a specialist provider of engineering services within the European Space Sector. We have a new and immediate requirement for an experienced System Engineer to join our consortium's service team providing a number of pre-operational support activities to the Mission Control Teams, linked to the evolutions and new developments required with the Earth Observation (EO) Flight Operations Segment (FOS) and in particular Sentinel Expansion Missions.
The scope of the role is wide ranging but will specifically cover Pre-Operations Support in the following areas:
FOS Assembly, Integration and Validation (A, I&V)
Space-to-Ground testing and Validation
You should be able to clearly demonstrate experience in all these areas and, in addition, have a minimum of 5 years of experience in providing support to and integrating within Mission Control Teams for FOS development activities, ideally from early requirements definition phase to A, I&V activities. You should have a good understanding of the operational concepts linked to File Based Operations (FBO) and the CCSDS File Delivery Protocol (CFDP). A background and experience working with European Cooperation for Space Standardisation (ECSS) Packet Utilisation Standard (PUS) and a good working knowledge of PUS-C would be considered advantageous.
We also expect you to have experience in drafting and implementing FOS System Test Plans, knowledge and understanding of the European Ground Systems Common Core based Mission Control Systems (EG(O)S-CC MCS) and demonstratable experience of SCOS 2000 Mission Control Systems.
