The role of the teacher at St. Paul’s is to promote at all times and in every possible way the pupils’ intellectual and social development and learning, including independent learning skills.
Roles and responsibilities:
Creating and monitoring lessons and learning activities that are appropriate to a range of learning styles and pupil abilities.
Provoking and developing pupil’s sense of curiosity and wonder about the world.
Ensuring a safe, stimulating, ordered and supportive environment for learning.
Giving ethical direction and pastoral care.
Being a team player – supporting the work of other colleagues by participating in meetings, covering absent teachers, duties, etc.
Reporting on pupil progress, orally and in writing, as may be required by school procedure.
For expatriate staff the package is a two-year (renewable) contract that includes: housing allowance; furnishing allowance; grocery allowance; return flights (at the start and end of each contract); luggage allowances (outbound and return); visa expenses covered; opt-in private pension scheme; high-interest savings scheme, healthcare and dental plan, on-site lunches included and a UK-sterling salary allowance.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. The offer of the role would be made subject to receipt of satisfactory references, proof of relevant qualifications, identification checks and other safeguarding checks, an overseas check if appropriate and a pre-placement medical assessment. Proof of entitlement to work in Brazil is also required where necessary.
COVID-19 – Safety measures at St. Paul’s School
The safety of our staff and pupils are a priority at St. Paul’s. We have partnered with a dedicated medical establishment and local public health teams to develop safety measures in school in order to manage potential outbreaks of COVID-19 and help to protect staff and pupils from exposure to infection, keeping the community as safe as possible.
These measures include, but are not limited to: COVID testing available for staff and pupils as required; social distancing procedures in all areas of our facilities; multiple hand sanitizer stations distributed throughout the whole school; routine temperature checks; the use of face masks as mandatory and strict entrance and exit procedures on-site.
In addition, protocols are in place to ensure rapid responses resulting in isolation and medical attention and advice where appropriate, from our medical team for all members of the school community.
Our successful candidate:
The necessary educational qualifications (e.g. PGCE from the UK);
Experience of working with children within this age range.
Some experience of teaching the full range of English subject taught at secondary level.
Creativity and a child centred approach are expected.
All teachers should demonstrate a full commitment to the life of the school and are encouraged to pursue both their own professional development, as well as have an aspiration to help the school continue to develop and extend its reputation for excellence.
