Escrow.com is the recommended transaction settlement service of many of the top names in eCommerce, including eBay, GoDaddy and AutoTrader. It's also recommended by the United States Government and has been involved in some of the Internet's largest transactions. Our offices are in Sydney, San Francisco, and Vancouver.

The team continues its expansion in Sydney and we are looking for a Payments Operations Team Lead. This role will be responsible for a range of operational functions to support the business including customer due diligence, inbound/ outbound payment processing and related customer support. You will supervise a global payments and customer support team and ensure that payment processing is performed to the highest standard, whilst at the same time strive to improve efficiencies within the team. This is a hands on role where you will also be expected to perform transaction processing within the team.

As part of the role you’ll work closely with payment and support teams in San Francisco, Buenos Aires and Manila and have ongoing interaction with other internal stakeholders in the business.

The successful candidate will be someone who understands accounting and will likely have prior accounts payable/receivable experience or worked in a payments environment, but more importantly has the energy to make a difference in ongoing process improvement to ensure that payment processing is efficient, effective and accurate for our customers. You will thrive in a fast paced and agile environment where each day brings exciting new challenges for the business. You will also have an interest in working for one of the worlds leading tech companies.

You will be highly organised, trustworthy, extremely detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines. You will also have great communication skills as you'll be interacting with many stakeholders across the business.


Specifically, your duties will include:


Payments in:

  • Reconciling inbound payments with created transactions throughout the day.
  • Follow up with customers with payment issues over the phone and via email to ensure full receipt.
  • Perform anti-fraud procedures using data provided via our internal reporting systems.

Payments out:

  • Reviewing completed escrow payments to ensure that all conditions of release and anti-fraud controls have been satisfied.
  • Close out escrows and distribute funds in line with seller's disbursement method.
  • Reconcile outbound payments with closed escrows throughout the day.
  • Support client enquiries over the phone and via email.

Team Supervision and mentoring

  • Supervise small team to ensure payment processing and related activities are always on track
  • Resolve escalated issues arising from transaction processing
  • Lead daily and weekly team sprints to ensure all team members are aligned with payment processing priorities

Other

  • Screening and monitoring of payments in line with regulatory rules
  • Managing internal cash balances including executing daily cash sweeps
  • Investigating unallocated and/or non-received funds
  • Support to other departments in resolving customer account discrepancies
  • Ad hoc assistance with regulatory reporting where required

Requirements

  • Ability to manage and lead a global team
  • Accounting related degree preferable
  • Prior experience in a high growth tech company, preferably fintech would be an advantage
  • 2 years minimum experience in a payment processing environment
  • Highly proficient excel skills, including ability to work with excel filters and/or pivot tables in order to work with large volumes of data
  • Must have an enquiring mind and be proactive in identifying inefficiencies and be committed to improving internal processes
  • Excellent communication and numerical skills
  • Willingness to work flexible hours when required
  • Very strong personal and customer service abilities
  • Able to cope with time and pressure deadlines, with a strong focus to detail
  • Occasional international travel may be required
