Team Manager Data Management & Information Delivery (DMaID)

Our Team


Insights MSD is the Ministry's data and analytics hub.  We ensure MSD's administrative data and other information sources are used to improve strategic and business decision making.  The information and advice we provide helps New Zealander's be safe, strong and independent.


Within Insights MSD, the Data Management and Information Delivery Unit (DMAID) are responsible for: 

  • the acquisition, development and enhancement of MSD's data assets
  • ensuring data and information is made available in ways that work for our users and consumers
  • building awareness and capability so that information is used for evidence based decision making.


We design and develop the key data structures used by a range of specialists across MSD.  DMAID is also responsible for the management of MSDs enterprise data warehouse, and the creation of foundational data assets, dashboards, self-service tools and automated reports.


About the Role


Our Team Manager Data Management and Information Delivery is responsible for leading a busy team that builds and develops our significant data assets to ensure we get maximum consistency, value and quality.  These roles will lead teams and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence whilst ensuring a safe and leading practice around the management of our data.


Skills and Experience


To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Sound experience as a manager and leader, with a track record for forming and guiding an effective and collaborative team culture, supported by strong professional practices and processes
  • Proven relationship management skills, utilising effective communication and collaboration approaches.
  • An understanding of Agile practices in the context of data management and information delivery
  • Excellent data warehouse and business intelligence skills with experience in SAS and other complex or relevant warehousing and information delivery / management tools
  • Knowledge and experience in analysing information in large databases and demonstrated ability to manipulate and transform data. In particular demonstrated knowledge and ability to ensure that the most suitable information delivery tool or system is applied in the delivery of business critical information for our consumers
  • An excellent ability to work in a fast paced but fluid environment, work with ambiguity, and deliver high quality outcomes to deadlines and budgets
  • passion to provide useful high quality information to stakeholders in a way that is timely, meaningful and accessible for them.
