This is a fantastic opportunity to play a lead role in assisting in the strategic direction and share your technical expertise.

The Technical Leader Remote Sensing provides technical oversight and supports Land Infomration New Zealand (LINZ) with specialist expertise in remote sensing, particularly in relation to the development and distribution of ‘value added' products and services. 

They support Location Information managers in the delivery of the Topographic Strategy and the Mapping New Zealand 2025 work programme, providing technical leadership, advice and capability on the collection and use of Remote Sensing data.

What you will do:

  • Provide thought and technical leadership to assist in the strategic direction of Topography and other Location Information teams
  • Identify skills gaps and providing interventions in terms of growing specialist technical skills in others through training, coaching and mentoring
  • Work across Location Information to use remote sensing to improve processes and products

Skills and Experience:

  • Suitable qualification with relevant experience to demonstrate expertise at a high technical level relevant to the role
  • Extensive experience in the use of remote sensing to derive data products
  • Practical technical documentation skills and ability to communicate complex technical information in an easily understood way
  • Proven ability to successfully mentor and coach others in this specialist area
