We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of: Technical Manager, Youth Engagement and Participation, Bangladeshi Youth Activity in Bangladesh.


FHI 360 seeks a Technical Manager, Youth Engagement and Participation, for an anticipated USAID Bangladeshi Youth Activity. The project will aim to bolster youth’s income; resilience to violent extremism/ and anti-democratic values; and to provide youth the skills and abilities to advocate for good governance and to improve Bangladesh’s self-reliance. The project will build skills and empower in- and out-of-school youth to increase their employability, civic engagement and contribution to the economic growth of Bangladesh. The project’s three objectives will include: Increase civic awareness and resilience to anti-democratic and violent extremism values; Strengthen youth participation in community-improvements and decision-making processes; Improve the marketability and employability of youth to connect them to sustainable livelihoods and income generating opportunities. 

This position is contingent on funding.

Job Responsibilities:

The Technical Manager, Youth Engagement and Participation, will oversee the establishment and technical direction of all civic awareness, community-improvement and resilience activities. S/he will lead identification of models and approaches that enable positive youth development and gender equity principles to be integrated throughout the Program. S/he will advise, create and, if need be, facilitate training programs and tools to enhance knowledge and performance of partners to enable them to achieve impact with youth, especially young women The Technical Manager, Youth Engagement and Participation, will report to the DCOP. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on project activities in order to maximize their effectiveness in increasing youth civic education and engagement.
  • Champion strong coordination and collaboration between FHI 360, local partners, and government agencies and the sharing of best practices.
  • Support strengthening of youth and youth-focused organizations involved in advocacy and accountability, youth participation in local and national policy spaces and networks, and development of advocacy plans that promote youth leadership and civic engagement.
  • Support youth participation and involvement in priority networks and coalitions.
  • Support in the development and facilitation of online platforms for young people.
  • Identify and coordinate opportunities to participate in youth-focused conferences, meetings, campaigns and events, and coordinate trainings for young people.
  • Conduct technical research and improvement of methodologies, as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA or its international equivalent in youth development, international relations, social sciences, or a related field; Master's Degree preferred;
  • A minimum of 8 years’ professional experience with at least four years in a senior technical role on donor-funded programs related to community development, youth engagement, peacebuilding or preventing/countering violent extremism (P/CVE), local governance, or civil society strengthening projects; 
  • Experience with USAID rules and regulations and experience; working in an international NGO environment highly desirable; 
  • Experience working with civil society organizations, government institutions, and the private sector to advocate for youth;
  • Advanced level of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English required; language skills in Bengali highly preferred.
