Trickle Up (TU) has been a pioneer organization helping the people living in deep poverty with multiple vulnerabilities graduate out of extreme poverty since 1979. It has helped over one million of the poorest, most vulnerable people move to greater economic self-sufficiency. It helps women and other vulnerable populations start sustainable businesses through seed capital grants, skills training and coaching, and join savings groups that give them a safe place to save money and access credit. They are empowered to create plans for their better future, build hope and confidence and become decision-makers in their households and communities, thereby finding their voices.
Trickle Up’s Asia Regional Office is based in India. It currently works in India, Vietnam and Bangladesh, following a similar focus on people living in deep poverty and a context specific adapted graduation approach to lift these people out of extreme poverty.
Technical Officer (Digital & App Development) for the M Powered program will provide technical support in implementation of this innovative digital focused project reaching ultra-poor women in rural areas of eastern India. The Technical Officer (Digital & App Development) will also support the Program Manager and M Power team to reach the ultimate objective of M Power program ensuring project participant using technology improve their socio-economic conditions and ensure sustainable livelihood.
Technical Officer (Digital & App Development) is a technical position with the Program Team of M Powered and is responsible for providing technical support to the Program Coordinator and is responsible for the working with third party vendors to support the development and management of smartphone applications, API server dashboard, and mobile application management. The position is also responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the smartphones and applications, and is responsible for application changes and updation and upkeep. He will be also responsible for developing the web portal/ content associated to the App. This support encompasses program management, monitoring and evaluation and documentation and reporting

Smartphone and App Development and Management:
Contribute towards the development of the Smartphone Application (Android), Mobile App Management, Server Dashboard and smartphone assets and technology lifecycle.
Developing content and providing training to field staff, partners and participants on smartphone usage, digital & virtual platforms, internet usage, etc.
Conducting Trainings and timely refresher trainings on the PoP (App) to participants and field partners to ensure effective transfer of knowledge
Ensure project deliveries as per agreed timelines without compromising the quality by engaging with relevant stakeholders.
Review solution design of Application and Modules and ensures the incorporation of best design practices.
Closely interact with Architecture review board to ensure the right solutions are provided to the application and to ensure the changes are solution-ized properly.
Ensure the team works closely with the incident management team and the problem management team to ensure the closure of bugs and incidents reported.
Provide regular guidance to program team to come up with the most optimum solution for changes in the application.
Contributing towards the IT organizational requirements and architectural engagements involving multi-tier application designing
Actively participate and provide regular inputs to maintain overall quality of the program
Ensuring and own the performance, availability and scalability of the application with constant interactions with Applications Architects, Application Delivery Team and Infrastructure Management team.
Participating and recommending in the vendor evaluations for enhancing the technical capabilities.
Participate and deliver on the activities / tasks contributing towards the overall unit / organization goals on assignment basis
Develop and participate in field test planning, test scenario writing, bug tracking and risk management.
Provide onsite technical support, performance testing and execution of network specific test cases where necessary.
Develop and implement effective monitoring guidelines and timely reporting to all stakeholders.
Coordinate the delivery of Digital kits (including mobile phone and applications.)
Manage and train technical support teams in the field for efficient distribution of kits and resources.
Provide regular reports on key performance indicators.
Provide input into technology-related project budget decisions.
Any other task assigned by the PC-ICT/ Director of Operations.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Documentation
Support the development and maintenance of monitoring and evaluation systems that are well aligned with and responsive to the program management, reporting, and learning objectives.
Participate in monitoring, evaluation, and documentation work through partner visits, and collaborating in the development of program reports, such as case studies, technical briefs, research articles, and other publications.
Any other task assigned by the PC-ICT/ Director of Operations.
Required qualifications and core competencies:
B.Tech or B.E in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or related degree
Demonstrated 5 years IT experience at field level working with data analysis and data presentation with software for national/international NGO
Overall experience managing livelihood and/or gender focused programs working in partnership with local NGOs and/or CBOs.
Experience working in partnership with government and state/national level entities (e.g. NRLM)
Proven experience of handling projects involving linkages with industries, NGOs, National/State/ local organizations and government;
Deep commitment to Trickle Up’s core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
Fluency in English and Hindi with excellent verbal and writing skills.
Prior experience working in teams in a leadership rol
Experience with training highly desirable.
Ability to travel frequently within the country.
Ability to prioritize, organize and carry out multiple tasks efficiently under pressure and with little supervision; ability to accept supervision.
Location: Kolkata, West Bengal with frequent travel to the project areas.
