Job Description

About the role:

The Technical Specialist will be responsible for configuring and developing technical functionality within key systems such as ZenOSS, Moogsoft, Solarwinds as well as customer-specific systems. You will work closely with IT and Business teams to develop and enhance monitoring and event correlation capabilities as well as ensure the platforms are operationally sound and above KPIs. You will be involved in hands-on systems development/configuration working closely with solution designers, application architects, project managers, various technical teams and the business stakeholders to translate business requirements into working, high-quality technical packages.


  • To ensure the on-going availability and operation of the Monitoring, Performance Reporting and Event Correlation toolsets operating in a production state.
  • Administration and configuration of the technical platforms
  • Investigate and resolve any incidents or disruptions to shared and dedicated platforms and applications.
  • Obtain and analyse business requirements and document technical solutions.
  • Design and delivery of technical solutions based on the technical systems
  • Provide user support and guidance in operating toolsets
  • Manage and administer user access
  • Engagement of vendor support
  • Leadership skills in technical initiatives
  • Supporting testing

Experience required:

Please be aware that this role involves work for the Australian Government and will potentially have access to classified information/resources. As such, a security clearance is required and therefore it is a requirement that the successful candidate be an Australian Citizen.

  • Significant experience in IT Operations Management (ITOM) applications (e.g. HP Openview, Solarwinds, ZenOSS, Moogsoft)
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of Network Management – SNMP, MIBs
  • Experience implementing business process improvement projects
  • ITIL Certification
  • Knowledge of networking including firewalls, network protocols, and IP addressing
  • Knowledge and experience of server administration – Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Adept at problem management and solving regarding technical / software related problems

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge and experience of containers.
  • Proven technical experience in an DevOps environment, ideally in ITOM applications
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of programming languages – JavaScript and Python.
  • Certification or working knowledge of service management and architecture related industry standards (e.g. ITIL, TOGAF, PMBOK/Prince2, Agile).
  • Experience with Telco Enterprise and Government customer facing units.
  • Experience in IT/OSS Solution Architect role.
  • Working experience with XML, JSON, REST APIs
  • Deep understanding of ICT technologies, OSI stack, SDN.
