MSD BRINNY



MSD Brinny is a leading facility for the development, testing and manufacturing of new biologics and vaccines, exporting to over 90 countries across the world. With a team of approximately 500 people, MSD Brinny specialises in the late-stage development and commercial supply of biotech products, including some of the company's most successful and life-changing treatments for oncology, hepatitis C and rheumatoid arthritis.

The Brinny site has been a vibrant part of the local Innishannon community for nearly 35 years and is now one of the region’s largest employers. MSD has invested €130m in the site since 2016 as a result of increased global demand for MSD medicines and vaccines which will see MSD Brinny further expand its production facilities and capacity to meet this demand.



& SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES



You will Report to the Engineering Vacccines Utilities Maintenance Team Leader and be responsible for the hands-on maintenance of utility equipment and the hands-on operation & maintenance of utility equipment. Working closely with Engineering & Manufacturing, you will form part of the Utility team maximizing asset performance.



This position is accountable for the smooth execution of all appropriate functions associated with the role.



GENERAL SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES



EHS



  • Responsible and accountable for the safe accomplishment of all activities within the Engineering Utility maintenance department, whilst following all statutory, environmental, regulatory (cGMP), corporate site and department practices and procedures.

  • Reporting any EHS incidents and/or near misses.

  • Developing and looking after the maintenance workshops, ensuring housekeeping standards are constantly met.

  • Ensuring that housekeeping standards in the entire facility are maintained to a very high standard.

  • Electrical/Mechanical Isolation of equipment to ensure equipment is safe to work on.


You will contribute to the High Performance culture within Engineering providing a flexible, accurate service to enable the department to achieve our four key priorities. You will be an active member of the Engineering Utility team providing support, guidance and expertise.



You will participate and comply with the our Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, including ownership, as relevant to you.



Technical Support



  • Providing maintenance and utilities cover (including all bank holidays), as required.

  • Providing on-call cover as required.

  • Carrying out all routine and non-routine tasks delegated by maintenance management (Team Leads, Planner, Engineers, Manager) according to appropriate procedures and standards.

  • Repairing equipment malfunctions (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, automation, civil).

  • Executing site preventive maintenance routines.

  • Assisting in construction, commissioning and qualification of equipment.

  • Developing maintenance procedures and equipment files. Assisting with generation, review and revision of maintenance documentation as necessary.

  • Selecting of appropriate spare parts to ensure maximum availability of equipment.

  • Operating all site utilities and facilities equipment safely and efficiently, whilst maximizing uptime.

  • Collecting and analysing equipment data to report on equipment performance.

  • Assisting with rolling shutdown preparation and execution.

  • Assisting Engineering in executing projects.

  • Managing maintenance contracts and working with/supporting contractors.

  • Training other staff in department procedures and techniques, as required.

  • Assisting in maintenance stores operations, as required.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS



Essential



  • Minimum Leaving Certificate.

  • Trades qualified.



Desirable



  • Scientific or technical qualification in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & controls, utilities engineering.

  • Maintenance experience within a GMP regulated environment.

  • Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Experience of DC, PLC and SCADA systems

  • Experience of Pemac/SAP

  • Evidence of Continuous Personal Development

  • Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt





Job Experience



  • Greater than 3 years’ experience in an Engineering Utilities manufacturing processing.

  • Experience in working in a team environment to deliver production schedules in a compliant culture.

  • Demonstrated capability and ability to deliver production schedules.

  • Good technical ability, problem solving experience.

  • Previous experience for delivery of training, maintaining housekeeping, and 6S in all production areas while focusing on continuous process improvement using Lean Principles.

  • Applicant should have previously demonstrated strong team skills, flexibility, motivation, ability to troubleshoot/problem solve, with a strong emphasis around safety and compliance practices.

  • Applicants should actively support, participate and embrace an empowered team culture and have excellent communication skills
