Chemours is seeking a Global Technology Manager to join our growing Advanced Performance Materials Technology team! This position will report directly to the Director of Sustainable Technology for Advanced Performance Materials and will be based at our Mechelen, Belgium location.

Our Advanced Performance Materials segment uses a market-back approach to drive technology development that meets unmet customer needs. Our innovations are underpinned by deep technical knowledge and experience that provides the market with solutions to solve seemingly unsolvable problems.

This highly visible Global Technology Manager role will lead a team of scientists and engineers responsible for Research & Development and Technical Services for our high-performance Coatings portfolio.   The Global Technology Manager will develop and implement innovation strategy, drive agile execution of the New Product Development process, provide guidance for technical support of existing customers, and progress sustainability programs within their product lines. 

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Leadership of a global R&D and Technical Service organization for high-performance Coatings including setting and meeting strategic goals and objectives for the team and individuals, project prioritization, talent development, recruiting, and succession planning.

  • Development and execution of product line technology roadmap including intellectual property strategy and integration of sustainability programs.

  • Working closely with global business team (Marketing, Product Management, Sales, etc) to ensure alignment of technical resources with business strategy for existing products and new product development.

  • Execution of the Stage Gate process for formulation development including assigning resources, prioritizing deliverables, and ensuring appropriate progress versus timelines and milestones.

  • Coordination of technical support to customer across regions, including resolving complex challenges using innovative coatings technologies to enhance performance, productivity and profitability for customer products.

The following is required for this role:

  • Advanced technical degree in science / engineering (PhD or equivalent experience)

  • 10 years of combined leadership and technical experience

  • Experience in developing, formulating, testing and commercializing high-performance coatings systems (including  water-based, solvent-based and powders) for industrial customers.

  • Portfolio / project management or continuous improvement process (e.g. Six Sigma) experience (certification preferred)

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and apply commercial acumen

  • Ability to travel up to 30% (domestic and international possible)

  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Experience leading global teams;  international assignments a plus

  • Experience in polymer chemistry

  • Excellent language skills in English and Dutch (verbally, in writing, and in presentations), and preferably one other regional language.
