This toxicologist/industrial hygiene position for the Polyurethane division provides expert advice to the Global Materials and Industry Sustainability (GM&IS) team, by the application of professional judgment in toxicology, occupational health & safety and biochemistry. This position is also responsible for conducting and overseeing exposure and risk assessments, support (REACH) evaluation and authorization processes in order to ensure the regulatory compliant sale and transfer of Huntsman Polyurethanes Products in all countries that Huntsman operates In addition, the job holder will proactively analyse for substitution opportunities to provide direction to strategic marketing and innovation teams towards potential innovation or (new) market growth.
Assess competitive materials and substances or substance under pressure and develop opportunity analysis to increase differentiation of the PU business. To ensure critical tox/ecotox/phys-chem data review and independent hazard assessment for the substances of the HPU portfolio (commercial and raw materials) and possible new alternative substances, so that this can be used to improve the predictive capability of the predictive chemical risk tool. Make conclusion on what next step authorities could take on certain substances and what the probability could be.
Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of computer applications such as Microsoft Office. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
Develop testing strategies (higher TIER) and follow up on them for PU dossiers under evaluation. To make suitable business recommendations, perform protocol reviews, approve protocol amendments, assess raw data, review draft and final study reports to ensure optimal study results thus minimizing business impact
Perform risk assessments according to our EHS 703 for any new R&D material or existing material in new use Perform exposure assessments with approved tools as EASY TRA
To represent Huntsman in various industry and trade associations. To be an active participant in all meetings and to advise and convey relevant information to stakeholders which could influence or impact global/regional Huntsman decisions on the short and long term.
To support primarily the Huntsman Polyurethane business particularly in meeting REACH regulations and other Global Regulatory Authorities' obligations (provide expert input in registration/ evaluation/ restriction/ authorization processes).Support downstream users, including our own DSE's with regulatory issues and worker/consumer risk assessments
Policy and Regulation
Knowledge in Regulatory toxicology particularly in field of reproductive and development toxicity.,
Solid experience in regulatory toxicology, involving hazard and risk assessment for industrial chemicals, the application and interpretation of product safety legislation/regulations, REACH, scientific liaison activities and project management,
Familiar with Risk Assessment Tools (e.g EUSES, EasyTRA), Practical Experience with TSCA, OSHA, REACH, GHS Classification.
Excellent presentation and communication skills.
Be able to interact with different teams & departments at different levels and represent Huntsman in the industry.
