Introduction

As a trainer in Woodridge, you will play a key part in providing additional support to the team in the successful delivery of the SEE program.

Opportunity

  • Promoting MAX Solutions training services to achieve exceptional customer service through supporting students successful completion of their training and attainment of required outcomes
  • Delivering face to face training in the classroom and supervision during Vocational Placements in accordance with Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS) and agreed delivery schedule

About you

  • Be a driven, supportive and community minded person, working with disadvantaged learners and non-English speakers to support them in building future opportunities for themselves through learning
  • Strong knowledge of the VET sector and the National Standards for RTOs (2015)
  • Excellent skills in training facilitation and assessment within vocational area
  • TAE40110 and upgrades

  • Conduct and document initial client interviews and pre-training assessments
  • Record and maintain accurate client information in learners’ portfolios/files and data systems in a timely manner
  • Promote student attendance to minimise absenteeism and contact students to discuss absence, identifying barriers and supporting their return to class
  • Develop teaching resources that meet training package and contract requirements
  • Deliver a range of curriculum using mandated resources to achieve outcomes for students
  • Use effective learning techniques, strategies and resources to meet the challenging needs of various client groups
  • Demonstrate flexibility as to levels, student cohorts and the focus of delivery, to maintain a student-centred approach
  • Ensure all assessments are completed as per the Training and Assessment Strategy and Program requirements, within the timelines identified
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and assessment in line with MAX Solutions and contractual requirements
  • Conduct Exit Interviews, close and update the IPG prior to clients completing training
  • Ensure use of current resources/forms/documents
  • Participate in staff meetings, curriculum development and other professional development opportunities
  • Participate in professional development relevant to teaching and assessment to maintain vocational currency and ensure records are updated
  • Complete and maintain a Trainer HR Matrix using the template provided by MAX Solutions
  • Participate in moderation, validation and quality assurance processes including internal and external audits
  • Comply with all WHS procedures ensuring that team members abide by all relevant health and safety procedures
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviours and report all accidents, incidents or near misses immediately
  • Follow / adhere to all other MAX policies and procedures.

Key Challenges

  • Maintaining engagement and attendance of students
  • Maintaining strong relationships with key MAX site staff, industry, the community, referral agencies and employers during training and Vocational Placements and providing updates on progress to relevant stakeholders
  • Providing contextualised culturally appropriate training to a diverse range of students
  • Tailoring training to meet the needs of individual students, including those requiring additional support
  • Ensuring students attain the required competencies.

Required Experience

SEE Program

  • Previous experience working as a Trainer and Assessor
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Experience working with disadvantaged learners
  • Experience working with diversity
  • Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being delivered
  • Well-developed knowledge of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)
  • Genuine passion to assist others to build opportunities through education.

AMEP

  • Previous experience working as a Trainer and Assessor with clients from non-English speaking backgrounds
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Genuine passion to assist migrants and refugees to successfully participate in Australian society.

Qualifications/Requirements - Mandatory

SEE Program

  • TAE40110 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is essential for this role including the elective TAELLN401 and /or TAELLN501 or equivalent
  • the vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed
  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training and assessment.

AMEP

  • TAE40110 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is essential for this role
  • Post-Graduate Qualification in TESOL
    • a teaching qualification such as a Bachelor of Education or equivalent which includes TESOL methodology as a major strand, or both of the following:
    • a recognised undergraduate degree or diploma - a formal qualification awarded by an Australian university or tertiary institution, or its overseas equivalent
    • a recognised undergraduate or postgraduate TESOL qualification. This qualification must include :
    • at least 100 contact hours of content focus on English language, language learning and TESOL methodology and
    • a supervised teaching practicum of at least 60 hours
  • the vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed
  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided, and
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs their training and assessment.

General

  • We adhere to the National Principles for Child Safety and require all team members to be committed to child safety and wellbeing. Our induction and training will provide you an understanding of these principles, including having an understanding of children’s developmental needs and culturally safe practices.
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.

Qualifications/Requirements – Preferred but not essential

SEE Program

  • Certificate IV in TESOL or higher level qualification.
  • Experience of working with learners from CALD backgrounds (many VET trainers have no experience of this and in many sites, the SEE trainer is basically a language teacher).

AMEP

  • Previous experience working with the ACSF.

General

  • Current drivers licence.
