The VP will work with the Controllership team engaged both with the Global Advisors segment managing the $2.7 trillion of assets and the Broker Dealers supporting the overall State Street Corporation. The BU Controllership team proactively partners with the Businesses, Finance leadership and other Control functions to ensure the optimal design / execution of processes and identification of areas for improvement / best practice implementation for areas impacting financial reporting.
Primary responsibilities are engaging with the BU Controllership team in…
* Partnering with the Businesses, Global Accounting Operations (GAO) and Finance leadership to ensure accuracy of financial results and that all internal controls are appropriately designed and executed
* Engaging with global leadership in key business and change initiatives, focusing on accounting related activities and internal controls to mitigate risk; as well as supporting new products and services initiatives
* Partnering with Finance leadership on new product launches and strategic growth & infrastructure build outs
* Overseeing and reviewing the businesses financial results, supporting geographies, businesses and legal entities
* Implementing, and ensuring compliance with, GAAP accounting rules that affect accounting globally
* Defining / monitoring service level agreements and key performance indicators of internal and external service providers impacting financial reporting
* Partnering with business leadership on executing various Resolution & Recovery Planning (RRP), regulatory, Controllership and other initiatives as required
* Preparing stand-alone financial statements for various legal entities as required for various Boards / regulators
* Maintenance of strong cross-functional relationships and communication channels across global locations
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance
* Accounting experience in the financial services industry
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills coupled with a strong track record of executing against goals
* Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels
* Strong customer service orientation and the ability to work in a team environment
* Understanding of risks / internal controls and ability to design / perform assessments and resolve issues
* Experience with legal entity financial reporting & accounting
* Prior experience working with Broker Dealer organizations / meeting associated regulatory obligations
* Familiar with Regulatory issues impacting the Financial Services Industry
