Job Description

MedicalDirector is one of the leading providers of cloud-based services for medical practices and health systems. Established 25 years ago, but with the energy and vision of a start-up, together, we want to help make people healthier around the world. We facilitate over 70 million patient consults each year by providing software solutions for GPs, Specialists, Pharmacists and Hospitals.

The focus of the VP Engineering role is to continue developing, innovating and deploying MedicalDirector’s digital & technology strategy through our next phase of innovation and growth. You will be tasked with leading the technology team to ensure the successful integration of digital strategies, technology platforms, business intelligence and business systems, making sure business objectives are achieved. Heading up teams across digital, systems development, architecture and infrastructure you will work closely with the CPO to develop Tech strategy, input into the Product strategy, and identify innovation opportunities. Fostering collaborative and future focused ways of working, the VP Engineering leads a team which develops, builds, tests and deploys technology models, services and solutions for MedicalDirector software products. They are responsible for delivering products that solve our customer’s needs.

Requirements

In this role, you will:

  • Strategy Development – develop a detailed Technology strategy and be accountable for the implementation of the strategy
  • Leadership – as a natural people manager you will lead, mentor and motivate the technical team to deliver the organisation’s technology strategy
  • Management - Strong management experience with a proven track record of building top performing and highly motivated teams
  • Delivery – design, delivery and optimisation of the IT & Digital platforms while identifying and improving on inefficiencies
  • Software development – creating and managing systems and processes to efficiently deliver against product strategy in a timely way with the appropriate quality standards
  • Security – ensure that best practice security systems and standards are considered throughout the whole software development lifecycle
  • Systems & Infrastructure – full responsibility for the platform, operating systems, data management, hosting, frameworks and testing along with outsourced infrastructure
  • Build robust talent management practices to attract and retain the best Innovation and Technology professionals to deliver against strategy
  • Build strong and effective relationships with business stakeholders (internal & external), external and third parties and vendors
  • Budget management – own and manage software delivery within assigned budget, hosting costs, and other IT related expenses
  • Be an informed and visible champion of MedicalDirector’s Technology capabilities
  • Champions and operates by MedicalDirectors CODE values

You should have:

  • Minimum of 15+ years experience in enterprise architecture, systems integration, and management. You will have a progressive career that has involved software development, technical architecture and leadership
  • You live and breathe digital and have experience and opinions on emerging digital technology and cloud architecture
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage the development team and multifaceted client accounts and requirements in high tempo, competing priorities, resource challenged environments
  • Creativity with an eye to developing new and innovative solutions in new and interactive cloud application development
  • Knowledge of multiple technologies stacks including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and .Net
  • Solid financial/commercial background and the ability to manage budgets, perform ROI evaluations and CAPEX investment analysis as well as create and review project proposals or plans to determine time frames, funding limitations, vendor accountabilities, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements and other resource phases of the project

  • Demonstrable experience in addressing leadership capability, talent development and succession planning
  • High level analytical capabilities, applied to complex programs of work
  • Successful track record in managing and leading large P&L budgets and complex projects
