Job Description

WAREHOUSE INVENTORY & SYSTEMS MANAGER - WEST RAND - R30000

We are currently looking for a Warehouse Inventory & Systems Manager for a client on the Gauteng West Rand.

The ideal candidate must have an Industrial Engineering qualification, and preference will go to EE candidates.

Requirements :

  • Operations: Ensure the development of systems and procedures for operating and managing of the physical inventory in the warehouse, human resources and equipment in a profitable manner. Plan, direct and implement warehouse operations, procedures and support to meet prescribed productivity and service levels.
  • Labour Management: Directs the operation of the warehouse housekeeping and administrative teams to achieve prescribed objectives and standards. Develop and maintain a productive, motivated work force by ensuring effective hiring, training and development of staff. Creates programmes to counsel and discipline staff. Provides timely and appropriate performance reviews to all direct reports and ensures the same is done for all warehouse staff.
  • Customer Service: Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all customers (internal and external).
  • Inventory Management: Responsible for inter warehouse stock transfers, inventory binning, bin accuracies and replenishment, stock takes and cycle counts. Ensures all customers objectives and standards are met in regards to inventory accuracy.
  • Accountable and responsible for inventory management as it pertains to loss/damage.
  • Safety/Housekeeping: Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate programs to ensure that all safety and housekeeping standards and objectives are met. Assure compliance to regulations in regard to safety certification to forklift drivers, and OHSA guidelines.
  • Equipment and Facility: Procure equipment and facility preventative maintenance services to assure efficient operations of all facets of the warehouse. Maintain suitable equipment and services to assure security of company assets.
  • Identify and implement changes in areas for potential cost savings and process improvement
  • Drive automation within processes to achieve long term cost and efficiency savings
  • Mentor, Coach and provide continuous feedback to direct reports.
  • Performs other job related duties as specified by management

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Relevant B-degree
  • Minimum 5 years managerial experience
  • Proven track record in inventory management, warehouse bin setups, stock rotation and loss prevention.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent skills in planning, controlling, staffing, budgeting, organising, and communicating are required.
  • The ability to develop effective relationships, provide leadership, and integrate diverse activities and individuals toward achieving objectives and standards are critical.
  • Ability to develop and execute a root cause analysis and fix
  • Ability to develop new and innovative operational solutions
  • Excellent networking, relationship building/maintenance, communication and presentation skills
  • Financial acumen, ability to make effective decisions, and experience managing projects and risk
  • Excellent computer skills (experience in Warehouse Management Systems)
  • Self-starter attitude
