Senior Hydrologist / Water Engineer

Cardno’s Water and Environment team is currently seeking an experienced Senior Hydrologist / Water Engineer to work in our Perth office on a full-time basis to provide design and execution of field investigations and assessments supporting conceptual and detailed engineering design of water-related aspects on a wide variety of projects from inception to closure.

The role:

Cardno’s Water and Environment team is currently seeking an experienced Senior Hydrologist / Water Engineer to work in our Perth office on a full-time basis to provide design and execution of field investigations and assessments supporting conceptual and detailed engineering design of water-related aspects on a wide variety of projects from inception to closure.

The role will join a team of specialists who work within the linear infrastructure, land development, local government, regional infrastructure and resource sectors.  You will be involved hands on with the technical assessment and documentation for projects.   This position will allow you to develop your management and client relationship skills.

The position offers the opportunity to:

• Collaborate with designers, environmental scientists, planners and engineers to deliver designs that are innovative, environmentally sensitive and practical
• Prepare concise and clear technical reports and figures using GIS and CAD programs
• Assists senior project managers and the Business Unit Manager with proposal writing and business development activities
• Interact with clients in order to nurture long lasting relationships
• Function as a project manager in order to deliver projects in a timely and ordered manner

About you:

To be successful you will display –

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Hydrology or Civil Engineering
• Strong experience in Site water management, water balance investigations, flood studies, rainfall-runoff modelling, hydraulic modelling, surface-groundwater interactions, water quality modelling and management, dam hydrology;
• Strong experience in concept and detailed design of road and railway culverts, bridges, floodways, road drainage, flood levees, dams and major diversions for large scale linear infrastructure, mining and hydrocarbon projects
• Demonstrated 2D floodplain modelling experience (TUFLOW modelling experience preferred).
• Previous experience with other relevant computing packages including hydrology and hydraulic modelling software (XPSWMM, MIKE 11 etc.), OPSIM, GoldSIM, AutoCAD and GIS will be looked upon favorably;
• Thorough knowledge of relevant standards and technical guidelines
• Strong communication skills
