About the Opportunity

This role will be predominantly about technical project delivery, including design, as well as contract and construction management, but may also include business development and key client account management/ liaison, with the balance changing according to business needs.

The successful candidate will work across both our Water and Urban Development Business Units, working on local authority water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure projects, and also on residential/commercial/defense and educational development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply sound engineering knowledge, skills and principles to undertake 3-water analysis, design and preparation of the supporting documentation to ensure successful project delivery;
  • Carry out efficient designs to current NZ Legislation, Standards, Approved Codes of Practice and Industry Best Practice etc;
  • Adhere to the company’s standard quality principles and design procedures;
  • Build and maintain relationships, both internally with immediate team and wider business and externally with peer groups and clients;
  • Identify training gaps and attend training courses where applicable, and also train/mentor less experienced peers;
  • Actively promote and continuously communicate on the best engineering practices in the project, the broader business, and in the marketplace.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • NZCE, Diploma or Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, and an CPEng status would be advantageous (although not essential);
  • 4-8 years’ experience as a water engineer, delivering and managing projects;
  • An understanding of business development through excellent client “care”, and the ability to identify new business opportunities;
  • Experience in NZ analysis and design using common materials and construction practices;
  • Project delivery and project management experience;
  • Experience in Construction Management and a good knowledge of NZS 3910
