Sr. AI Java Developer

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office (downtown) at a minimum 4 days per week subject to change at any time.
We are seeking an experienced AI Developer with strong expertise in Java technologies and proficiency in AI SDLC to design, develop, and integrate AI powered applications and intelligent automation solutions. The ideal candidate will leverage Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI frameworks, and cloud AI services while building scalable enterprise applications using Java and modern microservices architectures. Experience building applications using AI first or AI assisted development workflows ("vibe coding") while maintaining production grade engineering standards.
Your future duties and responsibilities Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy AI powered enterprise applications using Java.
Build intelligent applications utilizing Generative AI and LLMs.
Leverage AI assisted development tools (e.g., AI coding assistants and code generation agents) to accelerate software development while ensuring code quality, security, and maintainability.
Integrate AI capabilities with enterprise systems through REST APIs and microservices.
Develop backend services using Spring Boot and Spring AI.
Implement prompt engineering, AI orchestration, and agent based workflows.
Build scalable APIs to consume OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Google Vertex AI, AWS Bedrock, or similar AI platforms.
Collaborate with business analysts, architects, UX teams, and DevOps engineers.
Optimize AI application performance, scalability, security, and cost.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD implementation.
Stay current with emerging AI technologies and recommend improvements.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
3–8+ years of Java development experience.
2+ years working on AI/GenAI solutions preferred.
Strong knowledge of software architecture and distributed systems.

the company is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $80,000–$130,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
