As an Algorithm Developer/Data Scientist (m/f/d) at Sentronics Metrology (a Nova Company) in Mannheim, you will play a key role in developing and deploying advanced data analytics and machine learning solutions for image, spectral, and sensor-derived data. Working closely with software, firmware, optics and application teams, you will transform complex data into robust algorithms that support innovative metrology products and deliver valuable insights for our customers.

Role Responsibilities

  • Developing and optimizing algorithms for the analysis of image, multispectral, and other sensor-derived data
  • Designing, training, validating, and deploying machine learning and deep learning models for classification, segmentation, regression, anomaly detection, and feature extraction tasks
  • Developing data pipelines and model workflows using Python and modern data science frameworks
  • Evaluating and implementing state-of-the-art methods in computer vision, signal processing, and machine learning
  • Converting and deploying trained models using portable inference frameworks such as ONNX
  • Collaborating with hardware, software, and domain experts to integrate algorithms into products and applications
  • Documenting methodologies, experimental results, and software components according to engineering best practices

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong professional experience with at least 3 years in algorithm development, machine learning, data science, or a comparable technical environment
  • Excellent expertise in analyzing image data and/or spectral data
  • Solid understanding of optics and spectroscopy, with experience in optical sensors, spectroscopic data, or imaging systems considered a strong advantage
  • Excellent programming skills in Python
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major deep learning framework, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or comparable frameworks
  • Practical experience with Halcon is a plus
  • Proven experience in developing, training, and validating machine learning and deep learning models
  • Strong knowledge of software development best practices, version control with Git, and collaborative development environments
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams
