Structural Analysis Engineer

  • Reports to: Mechanical team leader
  • Job purpose: To perform structural analyses of a radar payload, using FEM tools to support design, verification, and environmental qualification in a space-oriented development environment.
  • Location: MetaSensing, Via Aniene 2, 20151, Milan, Italy
  • Employment condition: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Candidate must be eligible to work in the EU.

Job Duties:

  • Structural analysis of radar payload structures using hand calculations and Finite Element tools (static, dynamic, buckling, fatigue if applicable)
  • Interpretation of Finite Element results to support design decisions and qualification activities in regards to the load requirements
  • Support to mechanical design through close interaction with other engineering teams (CAD, thermal, system, electronics)
  • Support to environmental qualification campaigns (vibration, shock, thermal), with analysis for preparation and post-test correlation.
  • Preparation of structural analysis reports and qualification documentation
  • Support to system-level mechanical/structural trade-offs and payload integration activities

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in structural analysis roles for the space / aerospace sectors
  • Strong knowledge of structural mechanics and finite element methods
  • Proven experience with FEM tools for structural analysis (e.g. Simcenter, Ansys, Abaqus, or equivalent)
  • Ability to build, validate, and correlate FEM models with test results
  • Knowledge of metallic structures and basic understanding of composite materials
  • Understanding of the product development lifecycle (from concept, through qualification, to delivery)
  • Familiarity with environmental loads and qualification principles according to ECSS
  • Ability to communicate in English (writing and speaking)
  • Strong analytical mindset with good communication and team-working skills

Desired Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience supporting vibration, shock, and thermal test campaigns
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary development environment
  • Experience with radar, RF payloads, or high-precision structures is a plus
