Day Rate 500 eur Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Android App Developer (Intermediate Level) to join a technology team delivering secure, scalable, and innovative mobile solutions within the public transport and mobility sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining Android applications, with a strong focus on secure mobile technologies, API integration, embedded Android solutions, and modern authentication frameworks. This role will suit an Android developer who enjoys working on complex, high-impact applications that support digital services used by large-scale transport networks. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using modern development practices. Build robust, secure, and scalable mobile solutions within an enterprise environment. Develop and integrate RESTful web services and APIs. Implement secure authentication mechanisms, including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT-based authentication. Work with embedded Android applications and develop modular, interface-driven libraries to support scalable solutions. Integrate and manage secure elements, NFC technologies, and related authentication processes. Develop solutions involving smart card technologies, including MIFARE DESFire and SAM-based authentication. Implement and support QR code technologies, including UIC918 standards. Create and manage unstructured NoSQL databases where required. Apply strong debugging, troubleshooting, and unit testing practices to ensure high-quality software delivery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, architects, testers, and business stakeholders. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Manage source code using distributed version control systems such as Git or Mercurial. Required Skills & Experience Minimum NFQ Level 8 degree qualification in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience. Strong Android development experience with excellent knowledge of Java in an Android environment. Experience developing mobile applications using REST-based web services. Experience working with NoSQL databases and unstructured data environments. Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, unit testing, and debugging techniques. Practical experience using distributed version control systems such as Git or Mercurial. Experience implementing modern API security standards, including: OAuth2 OpenID Connect JSON Web Tokens (JWT) Strong knowledge of secure mobile technologies, including: NFC integration Secure Elements MIFARE DESFire SAM-based authentication Experience working with QR code technologies, particularly UIC918 standards.
