Role: Android Developer
Role Summary
We are seeking a senior Engineer with Android Experience to build and maintain end-to-end demo solutions, develop proof-of-concepts (POCs) for new prospects and existing clients, and support third-party POS integrations across Verifone payment solutions. This role is not focused on ongoing product feature development; instead, it is centered on integrations, demo engineering, technical enablement, tools creation and production support/troubleshooting across device, backend, and integrations. The engineer will collaborate closely with product, engineering, sales/solutions and customer engineering to ensure demos, POCs, and integrations are reliable, repeatable, and meets the client scope.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Android-based demo applications (on-device and off-device) supporting payment workflows and integrations.
- Build and support backend services and RESTful APIs required for demos, POCs, and integration scenarios.
- Develop standardized, reusable end-to-end demo solutions that showcase Verifone offerings, integrations, and workflows across devices, services, and web UIs.
- Deliver POCs for new prospects and existing clients, tailoring integrations and client workflows.
- Support third-party POS integrations with Verifone solutions, including configuration, troubleshooting, and validating end-to-end transaction flows.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, solutions/sales, QA, and support to align demo/POC needs, technical feasibility, and operational readiness.
- Debug, analyze, and resolve customer-reported issues and production defects, including deep troubleshooting across device/OS/network/service layers.
- Contribute to productivity tools, improvements, debugging/testing tools, automation and technical documentation to increase reliability and speed of delivery.
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience building Android applications (Java and/or Kotlin), including app architecture, lifecycle management, and performance tuning.
- Strong backend development experience (Java/Kotlin/Node.js/Python) with RESTful API design and integration patterns.
- Experience integrating with distributed systems, event-driven/asynchronous communication, and service-to-device workflows.
- Familiarity with microservices concepts and common integration approaches (API, callbacks/webhooks, message-based patterns).
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with containerized environments (Docker); Kubernetes/EKS exposure is a plus.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Proven ability to debug complex issues across Android device, OS, backend services, and network layers.
- Familiarity with or interest in AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, automation, and code quality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related.
- 8+ years of experience in Android / embedded / mobile software development; full stack/integration experience strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams (engineering, support, solutions, sales).
- Proven ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to dive deep into unfamiliar systems and "look under the hood."
